Description
Help grow a safer, cleaner, healthier future for everyone, every day.
Since 1972, Sensorex has specialized in the design and manufacture of pH and ORP electrodes, conductivity and TDS sensors, and other electrochemical and optical measurement technologies. We are trusted by hundreds of water monitoring market leaders to design, build and deliver high-quality, reliable water quality sensors.
“Your Precision Partner” means that we understand customers’ needs before we engineer a solution, and we go as deep on customization as any provider in the industry. We have finished products but we avoid competition with the OEMs we serve. That boundary is deliberate, because our partners' trust matters more than any single deal.
Headquartered in Garden Grove, California, with manufacturing in the Czech Republic and local support in the UK, we deliver a seamless buying experience and fast, reliable delivery worldwide. Sensorex is a subsidiary of Halma plc, a London-listed group of more than 50 businesses across the Healthcare, Environmental & Analysis, and Safety sectors, operating in more than 20 countries and serving customers in 160 countries worldwide.
Job Description
The Associate Product Manager operates at the commercial and technical intersection of Sensorex's product portfolio: building the product roadmap, defining product requirements, maintaining technical product documentation, developing technical training for internal and external audiences, and supporting pricing strategy. This role reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and partners closely with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance and Customer Service to make sure Sensorex's products are well-specified, well-documented, and well-understood by the people selling and supporting them, and priced to win in the market.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role for someone who wants to build a career within a technical, engineered-products environment. The candidate will also play a role in defining value propositions, features and benefits for marketing our products, and will co-develop market launch plans for new products. The ideal candidate is comfortable reading a datasheet, sitting in on a customer application call, and pulling together a pricing analysis — all in the same week. Over time this role can prepare someone for many optional career paths.
Key Responsibilities
Product Roadmap & Requirements
- Build and maintain the product roadmap, incorporating customer feedback, sales input, and competitive and market trends.
- Gather and synthesize Voice of Customer (VOC) input from Sales, Customer Service, and direct customer conversations to identify unmet needs and product improvement opportunities.
- Translate customer and market requirements into clear, well-organized marketing requirement documents (MRDs) for stage-gated, new product development (NPD).
- Coordinate sample and beta testing with customer partners, and commercial readiness activities to support new product development and product launches.
- Track product performance and lifecycle status across the portfolio, flagging risks, gaps, or opportunities to expand or contract the portfolio.
Technical Product Documentation
- Work with technical support and marketing and communications colleagues to assure the accuracy, currency, and quality of product documentation, including specification sheets, datasheets, instruction manuals, installation guides, and application notes.
- Work with Engineering to ensure new and revised products are accompanied by complete, accurate, and professionally presented documentation before market release.
- Maintain documentation standards and ensure consistency in technical language, specification format, and regulatory or compliance references across product literature.
Technical Product Training
- Develop and deliver technical product training for Sales, Customer Service, and the distributor network so that customer-facing teams can confidently represent Sensorex's product line.
- Build training materials and internal reference guides (selection guides, comparison matrices, FAQs) that translate technical product detail into practical, sales-ready knowledge.
- Partner with technical subject matter experts to keep training content current as products and applications evolve.
Pricing Strategy
- Support development and maintenance of pricing for the portfolio, balancing competitiveness, margin targets, and perceived customer value.
- Conduct competitive price benchmarking and analyze the impact of pricing changes on volume, margin, and revenue.
- Recommend pricing updates, discount structures, and price-list that are supported by data and a market-based rationale.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn customer, market, and pricing data into clear recommendations.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-organized technical documentation and training content.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally across the entire organization.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several workstreams at once.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in product management, technical sales, applications engineering, or a related technical/commercial role.
- Exposure to water quality instrumentation, sensors, or other technical/engineered products.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications, wiring diagrams, or instrument communication protocols (4-20mA, Modbus/RS-485).
- Familiarity with pricing analysis or competitive benchmarking.
- Experience creating training materials or technical documentation for internal or external audiences.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary: $80,000–$90,000
- Competitive benefits package, including 401(k)
- Annual bonuses based on profit growth of the company
