Overview
M&T Bank is seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to join our Endpoint Engineering team, with a primary focus on Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Windows endpoint management, and enterprise device deployment. This role will play a key part in supporting and expanding the Bank's ATM/TCR imaging and endpoint management initiatives while partnering closely with the ATM Engineering team.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong desktop engineering background, advanced troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience managing Windows operating systems at enterprise scale. Experience supporting ATM/TCR platforms is beneficial but not required. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn the ATM/TCR environment while leveraging their endpoint engineering expertise to drive operational efficiency, stability, and innovation.
Primary Responsibilities
SCCM / Endpoint Management
Administer and support Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), including operating system deployment, software distribution, patch management, compliance reporting, and application lifecycle management.
Design, build, and maintain Windows device images and deployment methodologies for enterprise endpoints and ATM/TCR platforms.
Develop and maintain endpoint standards, configurations, and deployment processes to ensure secure, reliable, and consistent device experiences.
ATM Imaging & Platform Support
Partner with the ATM/TCR Engineering team to build, maintain, and support ATM/TCR imaging solutions.
Assist with operating system upgrades, software deployments, hardware refresh initiatives, and endpoint management activities within the ATM/TCR environment.
Participate in testing, validation, and rollout activities for ATM/TCR hardware and software changes.
Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
Serve as a senior technical resource for complex endpoint issues involving operating systems, applications, deployment systems, drivers, networking, and hardware.
Perform root cause analysis and drive resolution of recurring technical problems.
Collaborate with support teams and vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve enterprise endpoint and ATM/TCR-related issues.
Automation & Process Improvement
Utilize PowerShell and other automation tools to improve operational efficiency, deployment processes, and reporting capabilities.
Identify opportunities to streamline engineering and support processes through automation and tooling enhancements.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with Desktop Engineering, Security Engineering, Infrastructure, ATM/TCR Engineering, and Service Desk teams.
Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
Participate in project planning, implementation, testing, and support activities across endpoint technology initiatives.
Education and Experience Required:
Combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architecture
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), including:
Operating System Deployment (OSD)
Software Packaging and Deployment
Patch Management
Task Sequences
Device Compliance and Reporting
Deep knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and endpoint lifecycle management.
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across operating systems, applications, hardware, drivers, networking, and deployment technologies.
Experience creating and supporting enterprise device images.
Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple technology teams.
Experience managing incidents, problem investigations, and root cause analysis efforts.
Education and Experience Preferred:
5+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering, Endpoint Engineering, or Systems Engineering in a medium-to-large enterprise environment.
Experience supporting ATM/TCR platforms, kiosk devices, retail technology, or other specialized endpoint systems.
Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern device management technologies.
Familiarity with endpoint security controls and enterprise device compliance requirements.
Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar IT service management platforms.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, Active Directory, Group Policy, and endpoint security practices.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,100.00 - $161,800.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
