Senior Project Manager – Commercial Mechanical
Location: Twin Cities Metro
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $140,000–$150,000 + Performance Bonus
About the Company
Our client is an established commercial mechanical contractor serving the Twin Cities area. The company has approximately 50 field employees across plumbing, sheet metal, and pipefitting, along with a dedicated service group.
Their work is diverse, with projects spanning commercial, multifamily, remodeling, occupied apartment facilities, and small industrial applications. A significant portion of their business involves design-build mechanical projects, making strong technical knowledge and project leadership especially important.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking to add a Senior Project Manager to their team. This is a key position for an experienced mechanical professional who can independently manage projects, work directly with customers, coordinate with field teams, and solve problems throughout the life of a project.
The ideal candidate will have strong Division 23/mechanical experience, with particular strength in piping and preferably additional plumbing knowledge. Sheet metal experience is also highly relevant.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial mechanical projects from start through completion
- Lead design-build projects and coordinate project requirements with customers and internal teams
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, documentation, and overall performance
- Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and customers
- Provide solutions to project-related technical and operational challenges
- Maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project
- Review project scope, plans, specifications, and design requirements
- Participate in project meetings and jobsite coordination
- Monitor project profitability and assist with successful project closeout
- Manage multiple projects based on size and complexity
Ideal Background
- 7+ years of commercial mechanical project management experience; 10+ years preferred
- Strong experience managing design-build mechanical projects
- Strong Division 23/mechanical piping background
- Plumbing experience preferred
- Sheet metal and pipefitting experience highly valued
- Commercial and/or small industrial project experience
- Multifamily experience is a plus
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proven problem-solving ability
- Ability to independently run projects and make decisions
- PE or engineering license is highly desirable, particularly given the company's design-build focus
Project Profile
Typical projects range from approximately $500K to $4M, with the company's core project range generally around $2M. The company is capable of handling projects up to approximately $7M–$10M.

Work Environment
This is primarily an office-based project management position with regular jobsite involvement. Project Managers typically divide their time between the office and jobsites depending on project requirements.
The company primarily works throughout the Twin Cities, with limited travel outside the area for select customers.

- BuildUp — currently being implemented; experience is helpful but not required
