About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team supporting Property Accounting. This role plays a key part in ensuring capital investments are accurately reviewed, approved, and reported from project inception through capitalization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to broaden their exposure to capital investment governance, fixed asset accounting, and cross-functional collaboration within a large corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Project Accounting
- Support the Capital Investment Request (CIR) process, including review of project submissions for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance
- Monitor capital project spend against approved budgets, tracking phasing, funding status, and variances throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and IT project teams to ensure timely and accurate capitalization of completed assets
- Review Goods Receipt timing and accrual activity to ensure capital costs are recorded in the correct period
- Track project status in SAP PS and monitor settlement of costs from projects to final asset records
- Assist in preparing capital-related materials for Finance Committee review, including cross-referencing project detail against summary reporting for accuracy in IRR, spend phasing, and capital vs. expense classification
- Support budgeting and forecasting of capital spend using financial planning tools (e.g., Anaplan)
- Respond to ad hoc requests from procurement, operations, and other Finance & Accounting departments
Controls & Collaboration
- Understand and apply SOX 404 requirements; execute and document internal controls related to assigned areas
- Partner with internal departments — including finance, operations, IT, and engineering — to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Support process improvement initiatives related to capital project workflows
- Build strong working relationships across the organization while reflecting the company's core values
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Experience
- 1-3+ years of progressive accounting experience; exposure to capital project accounting, or manufacturing/plant environments preferred
Certifications
- CPA or active pursuit of CPA license a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP as it relates to capitalization and project cost accounting
- Solid understanding of internal controls and SOX 404 compliance
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work cross-functionally with capital, operations, engineering, and audit partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP (S/4HANA preferred, including SAP PS) and financial planning tools (e.g., Anaplan) a plus
