As part of Group Compliance and Enterprise Risk, our team has three primary teams spanning regulatory relationship management across APRA, ASIC and RBA and managing regulatory engagement framework, system and strategy for the Group. 

See yourself in the team:

As a Senior Manager, within the Group Regulatory Engagement Team Centre of Excellence (CoE) you will play an important role working closely with the CoE Team Lead APRA Portfolio Relationship and provide regulatory advice from a cross regulator perspective and drive Group Regulatory Engagement Strategic Initiatives with key stakeholders across the Group. 

This is a 12 month opportunity, ending August, 2027.

Your day could look like but not limited to:

With support and coaching from the CoE Team Lead APRA Portfolio Relationship: Provide prudential regulatory advice and for the allocated portfolios across RBS, Climate, Non-Traded Market Risk and Treasury.  

  • Manage relevant APRA queries and information requests including necessary subject matter expert advice and guidance to the business.
  • Champion the CBA Regulatory Engagement Principles to deliver simpler, better, and more proactive regulatory engagement for the CBA Group.
  • Draft internal briefing notes for the Board/Board Committees and CEO ahead of major engagements with the prudential regulator.
  • Monitoring regulatory risk of information sharing by regulators.
  • Ensure administrative actions have been completed as required under the appropriate CBA standards and team procedures.
  • Draft content for inclusion into regulatory reporting and internal briefing notes for senior and Executive Management committees and CBA Board.

You will also be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Additional requirements we’re looking for:

  • Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify, understand, openly discuss, and act on current and future risks.
  • Experience interpreting APRA Prudential Standards, including CPS 230 Operational Resilience, through regulatory engagement or project implementation would be highly regarded.
  • Over 7 years work experience in a regulatory affairs, compliance or risk management role gained in industry, private practice, or the public sector.
  • Strong analytical, coordination and issue management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of APRA’s role and its powers.
  • Strong service orientation and well-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for prioritising work, addressing inquiries and developing relationships with senior Business Unit stakeholders across the Group.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills and an ability to deal with a broad range of internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills including an ability to draft clear, concise, and plain English documents.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Risk Management, Finance, Legal or other related fields is preferred; and
  • Role-model for the CBA values: Care, Courage, and Commitment.
