Position Summary: The Accounts Payable Specialist supports Opportunity Resource Fund's mission by ensuring the accurate, timely, and well-controlled processing of the organization's accounts payable and related financial transactions. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, employee reimbursements, vendor maintenance, payment processing, corporate credit card activity, and related reconciliations.
Working under the direction of the Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist helps maintain strong financial controls, accurate records, and efficient accounting processes. The position works closely with employees, vendors, and other members of the Finance team and requires a high degree of accuracy, organization, responsiveness, confidentiality, and customer service.
Compensation & Benefits: $23.00 - $26.00/hour Full-time, Hourly, Nonexempt

Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience will be considered.
Experience: Two or more years of accounts payable, bookkeeping, or transactional accounting experience preferred. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint, with the ability to learn new financial and cloud-based systems quickly. Demonstrated experience processing accounts payable transactions, invoices, employee reimbursements, and electronic payments.
Other Requirements: Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, general ledger coding, account reconciliations, and internal controls. Experience with accounting or ERP systems and electronic accounts payable/workflow platforms preferred. Experience maintaining vendor records, W-9 documentation, and supporting annual Form 1099 reporting preferred. Experience working in a nonprofit, community development, financial services, or mission-driven organization is preferred but not required. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Primary Work Location: Hybrid with regular onsite attendance in OppFund's Lansing office. Occasional travel to OppFund offices, vendors, financial institutions, community partners, or other business locations may be required.
