Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Lead Solutions Architect to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals.
This position supports Peraton's federal customer as part of an application transformation and modernization initiative.
This program is driving a large-scale transformation of systems into a data-centric, cloud-native ecosystem capable of supporting high-volume, near real-time data processing and advanced analytics. The work includes modernization of legacy applications, development of new cloud-native solutions, and implementation of DevSecOps and scaled Agile practices across the organization.
As a Lead Solutions Architect at Peraton, you will define and drive enterprise solution architecture strategy and governance across a large-scale federal modernization program.
You will work across architecture, engineering, operations, security, and program leadership teams to design and govern scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions spanning applications, integrations, cloud platforms, enterprise data ecosystems, and operational systems.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership across enterprise solution architecture efforts within a large-scale modernization program
- Design end-to-end enterprise architectures spanning applications, integrations, APIs, cloud platforms, data ecosystems, and operational systems
- Lead system-of-systems (SoS) integration efforts across multiple systems, vendors, contractors, and enterprise platforms
- Define and govern architecture standards, roadmaps, patterns, reference architectures, and modernization strategies
- Lead Technical Review Boards (TRBs), architecture governance reviews, and development of architecture artifacts and decision documentation
- Assess legacy and on-premises systems and define modernization and migration roadmaps to cloud-native architectures
- Design scalable, resilient, highly available, and fault-tolerant solutions supporting enterprise-scale operations and high-volume processing
- Define and govern multi-cloud architecture strategies including standards for naming, tagging, integration, messaging, and operational governance
- Design and govern APIs, messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and distributed integration patterns
- Ensure architectures align with federal security and compliance frameworks including NIST, FedRAMP, ATO processes, Zero Trust, and secure SDLC requirements
- Enable full lifecycle DevSecOps integration through architecture supporting CI/CD automation, governance, policy enforcement, and operational controls
- Support Agile and SAFe/scaled Agile delivery environments by coordinating architecture alignment across multiple delivery teams and workstreams
- Evaluate and select technologies, platforms, and integration approaches aligned with enterprise modernization objectives
- Mentor architects and engineering teams while promoting architectural consistency, governance, and best practices
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 16 years of experience or an Associates degree and 18 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 20 years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- 15+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise systems design, or large-scale modernization initiatives
- Proven experience designing and governing enterprise-scale architectures across distributed systems environments
- Experience operating within Agile and SAFe/scaled Agile delivery frameworks
- Strong experience designing end-to-end enterprise architectures across application, integration, cloud, and data domains
- Experience leading system-of-systems (SoS) integration efforts across multiple vendors, contractors, and enterprise platforms
- Experience with architecture governance including TRBs, architecture standards, roadmaps, and development of architecture artifacts
- Experience modernizing legacy and on-prem systems into cloud-native and distributed architectures
- Experience defining multi-cloud architecture strategies, standards, governance, and operational models
- Experience designing APIs, messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and distributed integration patterns
- Experience aligning solution architecture with enterprise data platforms, governance frameworks, pipelines, and analytics ecosystems
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices including CI/CD integration, automation, governance, and policy enforcement
- Strong understanding of federal security and compliance frameworks including NIST, FedRAMP, ATO processes, Zero Trust, and secure SDLC requirements
- Experience engineering highly available, resilient, scalable, and fault-tolerant enterprise systems
- Experience with AWS/Azure services, Terraform, API gateways, CI/CD platforms, Jira, Confluence, Git, and enterprise integration technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Solutions Architect (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Professional)
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or similar enterprise security certification
- DevOps or DevSecOps certifications
- Experience supporting statistical and similarly large-scale federal modernization programs
- Experience designing AI/ML-enabled enterprise solutions or advanced analytics platforms
- Experience supporting enterprise modernization within highly integrated operational environments
