Description

Position Summary...

Walmart Connect is Walmart's retail media network, connecting brands and suppliers to Walmart's 140M+ weekly shoppers across Search, Onsite Display, Offsite Display, Social Amplification, and In-Store Media. The Yield team sits at the intersection of revenue strategy, inventory management, and data
science -- responsible for maximizing the value of every ad impression across all Walmart Connect channels.

As Manager, Yield Analytics & Business Insights, you will own the analytical engine that powers our yield strategy. You will build forecasting models, analyze auction dynamics, optimize floor pricing, and translate complex inventory and revenue data into clear recommendations for Sales, Finance, Product,
and executive leadership. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who thinks like a data scientist, communicates like a business strategist, and wants to shape how Walmart monetizes one of the largest retail audiences in the country.

What you'll do...

Yield Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Analyzes ad inventory yield across all Walmart Connect channels (Sponsored Search, Onsite Display, Offsite Display, Social Amplification, and In-Store Media) by tracking fill rates, auction win rates, revenue per thousand impressions (RPM), and effective CPM trends to identify revenue leakage and optimization opportunities.
  • Monitors auction health and competitive bid dynamics to recommend floor price adjustments, reserve price strategies, and packaging changes that maximize revenue while maintaining strong advertiser ROAS and OMNI ROAS outcomes.
  • Identifies underperforming inventory segments -- by placement, audience, channel, or daypart -- and develops actionable recommendations to improve monetization efficiency and overall yield.
  • Evaluates demand-supply imbalances across channels and works with Sales and Account Management to surface high-value inventory opportunities and prevent over- or under-delivery against advertiser commitments.

Revenue Forecasting & Inventory Planning

  • Builds and maintains revenue forecasting models that project ad revenue, impression volume, and fill rates across weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual horizons -- accounting for seasonality, advertiser demand cycles, and new product launches.
  • Partners with Finance leadership to align yield projections with revenue targets; reconciles forecast vs. actuals and provides clear variance explanations to support business planning and budget decisions.
  • Models the revenue impact of pricing changes, new inventory packages, and product launches to support go-to-market decisions and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintains inventory availability forecasts that enable Sales to make informed commitments to advertisers without risking over-sold or under-delivered campaigns.

Data Infrastructure, Reporting & BI

  • Designs, builds, and maintains automated dashboards and reporting pipelines using SQL, BigQuery, and visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, or equivalent) that provide real-time visibility into yield KPIs, auction performance, and revenue pacing for internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures data accuracy and consistency by validating yield metrics against source systems, reconciling discrepancies with Engineering and Data Engineering teams, and maintaining clear documentation of methodologies and metric definitions.
  • Develops self-serve reporting tools that empower Sales, Account Management, and Finance teams to independently access yield data without requiring ad-hoc analyst support for routine questions.
  • Establishes and governs the canonical set of yield metrics and KPI definitions used across Walmart Connect, ensuring consistency in how performance is measured and communicated internally and to advertisers.

Pricing Strategy & Monetization Insights

  • Leads analytical support for pricing strategy decisions including floor price setting, auction reserve price optimization, and tiered pricing models across Walmart Connect's channel and placement portfolio.
  • Conducts competitive analysis of retail media network pricing and yield benchmarks to ensure Walmart Connect remains competitively positioned while maximizing total revenue.
  • Partners with Product and Engineering teams to design and analyze A/B tests and pricing experiments; synthesizes results into clear recommendations for scaling or reverting tested strategies.
  • Provides analytical support for advertiser-facing conversations about inventory availability, pricing rationale, and expected delivery -- helping Sales and Account Management build trust through data transparency.

Stakeholder Communication & Executive Reporting

  • Translates complex yield and inventory analysis into clear, concise narratives for senior leadership including VP-level and above; presents findings with confidence and a clear point of view on recommended actions.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly yield performance reviews for Walmart Connect leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and actions required to hit revenue targets.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, and Merchant teams to ensure yield strategy is aligned with broader business objectives and that data insights are incorporated into planning cycles.
  • Represents the Yield team in cross-functional planning meetings, bringing a data-first perspective to discussions about new product investments, channel prioritization, and advertiser partnership strategy.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensures all analytical work adheres to Walmart's data governance, privacy, and compliance policies; maintains documentation of data sources, methodologies, and assumptions to support audit readiness and institutional knowledge retention.
  • Supports Walmart's mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by modeling transparent and accountable behavior in all analytical work and team interactions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field and 2 years of experience in data analytics, digital advertising, retail media, or a related area; OR 4 years of experience in data analytics, digital advertising, or retail media without a degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL for querying large-scale datasets; experience with cloud data platforms such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalent.
  • Experience building and maintaining analytical dashboards or reporting pipelines for business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in retail media, programmatic advertising, or digital ad operations - with direct exposure to auction-based buying systems (RTB, header bidding, or equivalent).
  • Experience with yield management, ad inventory forecasting, or revenue optimization in a media or advertising technology context.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical modeling, forecasting, or data pipeline automation.
  • Experience designing or interpreting A/B tests and randomized controlled experiments in an advertising or e-commerce context.
  • Familiarity with Walmart Connect products and the Walmart advertising platform, or equivalent experience with a major retail media network (Loblaw Media, Sobeys/Empire Retail Media, Metro Retail Media, Canadian Tire CT Media, etc.).
