This job is responsible for maximizing the value for one or more products. Key responsibilities include working with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with product owners or specialists to ensure they are aligning on priorities. Job expectations include ensuring delivery of products that meet client expectations, including features, security, availability, resiliency, timelines and costs.
The Data Product Manager (Strategy Lead) role is part of a horizontal function supporting all delivery verticals under the newly formed ITGPST Data Strategy and Delivery organization. This role defines data domain-level strategies and establishes consistent end-to-end data flow design patterns, while enabling accurate and timely data-focused requirements scoping by coordinating across business and technology teams to synergize efforts across multiple projects. It aligns strategic objectives and enforces standards through governance—reducing rework, ensuring regulatory and audit compliance, and enabling reusable design patterns. The role drives predictable delivery across a multi-million-dollar portfolio by embedding opportunities for strategic objectives such as data modernization, cloud migration, and AI adoption.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision & Roadmaps
Define data domain/capability strategies, target patterns, and modernization pathways; co‑develop and maintain roadmaps with delivery, incorporating Inspect & Adapt learnings, technical debt, and audit findings
Portfolio Intake & Discovery – Assess new requests to drive data landscape simplification, modernization, and governance; influence scope and design decisions
Governance Routines – Lead adoption of target data patterns; co‑own business‑driven governance with DSME; ensure control efficacy and compliance readiness
Architectural Vision & PI Planning – Lead strategic enablers during PI Planning; enforce alignment with enterprise blueprints and standardized data patterns with Enterprise Architects
Delivery Verticals Support – Validate Epic acceptance criteria for strategic and governance fit; advise on design trade‑offs, prioritization, and dependency management
Voice of Customer & Use Case Capture – Serve as the strategy‑layer product manager; capture and prioritize client, regulatory, operational use cases to drive reuse and measurable value
Data‑as‑Product Advocacy – Promote canonical data contracts, shared services, and interoperability across domains; champion culture change and pattern libraries
Generates the vision and roadmap for the program based on customer requirements, industry trends, regulations, and the strategic direction for the business or technology domain
Communicates the program vision and roadmap to stakeholders, product owners and the teams
Oversees the budget(s) for one or more products by working closely with finance partners on both personnel and non-personnel expenses
Provides input into defining business capabilities and aligning them to products or creating new products to support them
Ensures product availability by partnering closely with demand and capacity teammates
Develops business cases for new products and additional features for existing products
Partners with the product owners and the teams to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and subject-matter expertise and understanding of the business and industry trends
Required Qualifications:
10+ years in data/architecture/product roles, including 5+ years in Payments/Treasury or banking; proven delivery in regulated environments
Global Payments domain expertise: payment rails, clearing/settlement, cross‑border flows, correspondent banking, treasury/payments operations; ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX
Regulatory & reporting knowledge: PSD2/Open Banking, AML/Sanctions (GFCC), NFRR/FRR reporting controls, audit readiness; data retention/lineage requirements
Data strategy & architecture: canonical data modeling, shared contracts/APIs, event‑driven and batch patterns, lineage/metadata, reference/master data, data quality controls
Governance leadership: design‑pattern stewardship, control frameworks, standards enforcement, policy‑to‑implementation traceability
Enterprise alignment: collaboration with Enterprise Architects; blueprint adherence; pattern libraries; PI Planning of strategic enablers (SAFe or similar)
Product management: roadmap definition, value hypothesis, backlog curation, Epic/Feature acceptance criteria; use‑case capture and prioritization for reuse and measurable value
Portfolio intake & discovery: ability to challenge scope for simplification/modernization; dependency and risk management across CDPO verticals
Communication & stakeholder management: executive‑level storytelling, cross‑functional influence, multi‑location collaboration across EMEA and global teams
Desired Qualifications:
Modern data practices: data mesh/product‑based operating models; event streaming (e.g., Kafka); interoperability standards
Cloud & modernization: experience guiding migration to modern platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), data lakes/warehouses, streaming, real‑time payments integration
Exposure to AI/ML, generative AI, intelligent automation, knowledge management, or advanced analytics use cases
Certifications: SAFe POPM/Architect, CDMP/DAMA, and cloud certifications (Azure/AWS)
