Bishop Gadsden, Charleston's premier senior living community, is seeking a Part-Time Donation Associate to support our retail store and donation program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys staying active, working hands-on, and making a meaningful impact through supporting our charitable giving efforts.


Position Summary:

This physically active role assists with the day-to-day operations of our retail store, including moving furniture, organizing merchandise, assisting with resident moves, and coordinating donation pick-ups and drop-offs. The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes pride in maintaining an organized space, and is comfortable performing physical tasks throughout the day.


A Typical Day:

  • Assist with resident moves and donation pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Load, unload, lift, and transport furniture, household items, and donations safely.
  • Organize, price, and merchandise store inventory.
  • Maintain orderly backstock, storage, and sales floor areas.
  • Assist with general retail operations and fill in on retail sales days as needed.
  • Drive Bishop Gadsden vehicles for donation and transportation needs.
  • Follow proper safety procedures when moving furniture and equipment.
  • Support the Retail Store Manager with daily store operations.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, customers, volunteers, and staff.

Requirements

What We Need In A Candidate:

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience; retail and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • Ability to work independently, lead volunteers and staff, and handle challenging situations professionally.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull furniture, donations, and merchandise.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors while assisting with moves, deliveries, and donation pick-ups.
  • Knowledge of antiques is a plus.
