Description
IPEX is a North American leader in thermoplastic piping systems, committed to safety, innovation, and operational excellence. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our Lynchburg facility.
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department, ensuring equipment, tooling, and facility systems operate safely and efficiently. You will provide leadership and guidance to Maintenance Technicians, coordinate maintenance priorities, and support continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational performance.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and support daily maintenance operations to ensure equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and ensuring required training is completed.
- Promote a culture of respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion through effective communication and consistent application of company policies.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment and tooling performance.
- Oversee the general upkeep and maintenance of the facility, property, and grounds.
- Support equipment upgrades, design changes, engineering improvements, and new project installations.
- Coordinate contractors and vendors for repairs, installations, and project execution.
- Share responsibility for the contractor management program in partnership with the HSE team.
- Act as a designated hot work permit issuer and ensure safe execution of hot work activities.
- Participate in the evaluation of new chemicals and materials introduced to the facility.
- Ensure critical controls, emergency systems, valves, and equipment are identified, tested, and maintained.
- Support the Emergency Response Program, including monthly and annual inspections of fire protection equipment.
- Prioritize maintenance projects and work orders to support safety, quality, and production objectives.
- Complete administrative duties, reporting, documentation, and maintenance records as required.
- Coach, mentor, and support Maintenance Technicians in their development and performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
What We're Looking For:
Education:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working with manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and facility operations.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
- Preventive and predictive maintenance principles.
- Manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and repair.
- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Contractor coordination and project support.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Maintenance documentation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting facility and capital improvement projects.
- Experience working within a safety-focused manufacturing operation.

Working Conditions:
- Combination of office and manufacturing plant environments.
- Exposure to chemicals, manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, excessive noise, and powered industrial vehicles.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, and equipment inspections.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety footwear, hard hats, and other protective equipment as required.
