Basic Purpose
Under the general supervision of lodge management, banquet staff is responsible for reading and analyzing event sheets in order to gather guest information, determine proper set up, specific guest needs, layouts, action stations, etc. Employees in this position will work closely with the sales director, reservationist, and housekeeping team, to ensure the execution and delivery of all events - maximizing revenue, utilizing meeting space, and striving to achieve or exceed the defined budgeted revenues for the banquet department.
Typical Functions
- Complete event set-up for groups which includes tables, chairs and linens.
- Understand and identify the requirements for each event.
- Provide assistance during event operations.
- Troubleshoot issues that may come up at events and act quickly and/or consult management to resolve problems.
- Establish and maintain healthy communication and interactions with guests and vendors.
- Tour, inspect, and monitor banquet rooms and presentations.
- Respond to requests during events including set-up and trash as well as linen and audio-visual needs.
- Communicate client requirements in a timely and accurate manner to all internal departments as required, to ensure delivery of superior guest service.
- Ensure accurate follow-up and communication both internally and to the guest/client.
- Work closely with the sales director and lodge management to obtain/confirm all event-related information in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of banquet set-ups.
- Ability to communicate and build working relationships with both coworkers and public guests/clients.
Special Requirements
- Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
