Job Overview
The AMS Engineer II provides technical expertise and engineering support for cryogenic pumps throughout their lifecycle. This role serves as a key technical resource for customers and internal teams, including Sales, Project Management, Commissioning, Project Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing. Responsibilities include supporting spare parts inquiries, Management of Change (MOC) activities, troubleshooting, warranty investigations, design reviews, field support, and root cause analysis, with a strong emphasis on newly manufactured equipment, installed systems, and aftermarket services.
Responsibilities
Engineering and Design Support
Create, modify, and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and related documentation.
Create and revise Bills of Materials (BOMs) within CAD and ERP/MRP systems.
Perform engineering calculations related to pump performance, including flow, speed, and head analyses.
Review operational data and performance curves to determine whether equipment is operating within design specifications.
Develop project-specific engineering documentation, including Project Test Procedures, Engineering Reports, and technical evaluations.
Aftermarket Services and Technical Support
Support the Aftermarket Sales and Project Management teams with spare parts requests, technical inquiries, and Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
Provide technical guidance to field service and commissioning personnel during equipment installation, startup, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities.
Assist with field investigations, equipment inspections, and assembly/disassembly activities as required.
Evaluate equipment and component condition to determine repair, replacement, redesign and disposition recommendations.
Project Engineering and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Coordination efforts between customers, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure technical requirements are understood and achieved.
Execute Management of Change (MOC) activities for upgrades and modifications to existing equipment and projects.
Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions to communicate findings, recommendations, and resolutions to engineering issues.
Warranty, Quality, and Continuous Improvement
Review warranty claims and recommend appropriate corrective actions based on technical findings and contractual requirements.
Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as Cause-and-Effect Analysis, "What-If" Logic Trees, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other industry-standard techniques.
Investigate and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to supplier quality, manufacturing, design, field performance, and engineering calculations.
Identify and implement workflow, engineering, and process improvements to enhance product reliability, service efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience w/ 3D CAD software, SOLIDWORKS preferred, creating models, assemblies and drawings
- Advanced MS Office Suite Fundamental understanding of centrifugal pumps
- Knowledge and experience in machine design
- Knowledge of industry safety requirements, familiarity with OSHA
- Skilled in time management, prioritizing and managing changing priorities
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 4+ years Engineering Design and/or Engineering Field Work
- CSWA: Preferred
- FE/EIT: Preferred

Work Environmental and Physical Demands:

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Candidates must be able to tolerate heights, up to 200 ft (60 meters)
- Job will generally be performed in a shop/office environment, but may require travel to a Client's office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply
- A valid driver’s license is required for travel to customer sites along with the ability to obtain a passport.

Environmental Safety Requirements
New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness
All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director
Job specific training modules deemed necessary by the employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis
Understanding and ability to safely work in a potentially explosive environment.
Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
