Job Details:
A Day porter is responsible for maintaining common areas of office buildings, apartment houses, or other commercial or institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect all public restrooms during each shift for cleanliness and adequate supplies, including soap, hand towels, toilet paper, sanitary products, and toilet seat covers.
- Clean mirrors, sinks, toilets, and restroom fixtures, removing dirt, stains, and trash.
- Continuously inspect public areas and sidewalks surrounding the building, removing litter and debris as needed.
- Damp mop spills and address safety hazards promptly.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Remove spots, marks, and graffiti from walls and columns.
- Inspect building entrances throughout the day and remove litter, debris, and cigarette butts.
- Keep entrances neat, clean, and presentable at all times.
- Clean interior and exterior lobby windows, doors, and windowsills.
- Spot clean public display cases, statues, plaques, brass rails, and vestibule areas.
- Inspect, clean, and vacuum elevator cabs.
- Clean elevator doors, walls, rails, call buttons, and interior surfaces.
- Remove debris, cigarette butts, gum, spills, graffiti, and other soils from elevator areas.
- Install and remove elevator protection pads as needed.
- Inspect exterior building perimeter and remove litter and debris.
- Power wash sidewalks bi-weekly.
- Sweep standing water and maintain safe walkways.
- Empty exterior trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean vertical and horizontal surfaces of building porticos.
- Place and remove carpet runners as required by weather conditions.
- Complete assigned work orders, including moving office furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with event setup and breakdowns as required.
- Replace light bulbs where fixtures can be safely de-energized using a local wall switch.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer, Property Manager, or Management Team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the workday.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Chief Engineer and/or Property Manager and performs duties under the direction of building management.
