About our Department:
The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.
General Services Electrician Position Overview:
This is a journey level commercial and industrial electrical work performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment. Work involves performing electrical repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings. Assignments are received from the Lead Electrician through work orders, verbally, or in writing.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License or have at least a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Possession of a valid State of Alabama Certified Journeyman Electrical Certificate or 5 years of experience as a journeyman.
