Job Description:
The candidate will join Blackstone’s Legal and Compliance department to support its business in Japan and throughout the region. Blackstone has offices across Asia Pacific including: Hong Kong, Mumbai, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Shanghai, and Beijing. The successful candidate will assume the following responsibilities, reporting to the Head of Japan Compliance:
Advise Blackstone Japan’s business on compliance matters.
Review and approve marketing materials to ensure adherence to Japanese regulatory requirements.
Partner with business units and global offices to support new initiatives.
Perform periodic compliance reviews in line with Japan-specific regulations.
Manage fund registrations, regulatory filings, legal ledgers, compliance registers, and required documentation.
Maintain and update policies and procedures to reflect regulatory developments and business changes.
Respond to regulatory inquiries, support inspections, and deliver compliance training.
Work closely with APAC and global offices on cross-border compliance projects.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would possess:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
At least ten years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or internal audit functions within a global securities firm, asset management firm, or other financial institution, including a minimum of seven years in compliance role.
JSDA Internal Administrator qualification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Japanese financial regulations and compliance frameworks.
Practical experience in marketing compliance, fund registration, and regulatory filings.
Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and adaptability, with a thoughtful and measured approach to evolving business and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively across global teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English.
Strong organizational and execution capabilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
A proactive and collaborative professional with a strong work ethic, a high degree of accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
