Job Title:

Visiting Scholar - OBGYN

Department:

Medicine | Obstetrics and Gynecology

Position Overview: The Visiting Scholar will conduct independent research under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the areas of ovarian and endometrial cancer biology, with a primary focus on extracellular vesicle (EV)-mediated mechanisms of tumorigenesis. The research aims to define how EV-associated proteins contribute to cancer initiation and progression and to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

A major focus of the laboratory is obesity-associated endometrial cancer. As obesity rates continue to rise, understanding the molecular mechanisms linking obesity to endometrial carcinogenesis has become increasingly important. Current projects investigate the role of Rab27a-mediated EV secretion and PIAS3 signaling in the initiation and progression of endometrial cancer, with the goal of developing early detection biomarkers and targeted therapeutic strategies.

Candidate Qualifications: We seek highly motivated candidates with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, OB/GYN, Cancer Biology, or a related field. Prior experience in gynecologic oncology and molecular biology is preferred.

Experience in the following areas is desirable:

Cell and tissue culture

Exosome/EV isolation and characterization

Molecular and biochemical techniques (RT-qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, IHC, gene transfection)

In vivo mouse models, particularly obesity-associated endometrial cancer models

Transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in EV biology, EV-mediated signaling, and early-stage ovarian or endometrial cancer development.

Experience Requirements: Doctoral degree (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences, Cancer Biology, or related discipline. One to two years of research experience in cancer biology or a closely related field. Demonstrated ability to conduct productive, independent research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and contributions to innovative experimental approaches or translational research programs.
