Family Visitation Specialist - Per Diem

AMHC is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and observant per diem Family Visitation Specialist to coordinate and supervise visits between children and their families. Position Summary

The Family Visitation Specialist coordinates and supervises family visits in accordance with court orders and agency guidelines. This position provides parent coaching through positive role modeling, ensures child safety during visits, and collaborates with families, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and community partners to support successful family interactions.

What You'll Do:

Support Families During Visits

• Supervise family visits in accordance with court orders and service plans. 
• Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children and families. 
• Observe parent-child interactions and provide constructive coaching and encouragement. 
• Intervene when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the child, including ending visits when appropriate. 

Parent Education & Coaching

• Model positive parenting techniques and healthy family interactions. 
• Coach parents in areas such as: 
  • Positive communication 
  • Setting healthy limits and boundaries 
  • Positive discipline strategies 
  • Age-appropriate expectations 
  • Child development and meeting children's physical and emotional needs 
  • Play, engagement, and positive reinforcement 
  • Connecting families with community resources 

Care Coordination

• Communicate important information related to the child's well-being with parents and appropriate service providers. 
• Coordinate services with DHHS, the Family Visitation Supervisor, and other members of the family's support team. 
• Participate in family team meetings as requested. 

Community-Based Services

• Provide services in the office, community, and family homes. 
• Transport children as needed to support visitation services. 
• Travel throughout the service area to meet client needs. 

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete accurate and timely documentation. 
• Maintain case records in accordance with agency standards. 
• Testify in court when required. 
• Complete all required initial and ongoing training.

Work Environment

• AMHC offices 
• Client homes 
• DHHS offices 
• Community locations throughout the service area 

Physical requirements include:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment 
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds 
• Ability to safely assist children with behavioral or physical support needs when necessary 
• Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities. 

Schedule

• Full-time, non-exempt position 
• Primarily Monday–Friday 
• Flexible schedule based on family needs, including occasional evenings and weekends 
• Travel throughout the service area is required 

Supervision

Reports to the Family Visitation Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
• Experience working with children and families.
• Be 21 years of age or older and High School Diploma/GED. 
• Have no conviction for driving under the influence (OUI) within the last 5 years. 
• Not have been on probation or parole for the last 10 years. 
• Have no record of a conviction or a record of not being criminally responsible because of mental disease or defect for child molestation, child abuse, or other crimes against a person. 
• Have no civil, criminal, or juvenile restraining orders within the last 10 years. 
• Have no current or past court order in which the provider is the person being supervised. 
• Agree to adhere to and enforce the court’s or Department’s order regarding supervised visitation.
• Have no record of substantiation for child abuse or neglect.
• Reliable, insured transportation and have proof of automobile insurance.
• Ability to work night and weekend hours.
