Description

The Company

Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.

We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.

Meet the team:

The R&D Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of next-generation products at Dexcom. As part of that role, we design and develop multidisciplinary test systems and characterize product performance across material, component, subsystem and system level attributes. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality and most reliable products for our customers.

We’re seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer with subject matter expertise across mechanics, materials, and electronic devices to architect and lead our test metrology portfolio for next generation hardware platforms. Positioned within the Mechanical Engineering team, this is a high visibility, high impact role in achieving Dexcom’s product performance and reliability goals through delivering functional excellence in the research, development, and characterization of enabling technologies/designs & their integration to a product ecosystem.

Where you come in:

  • As a Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer within the Mechanical Engineering Characterization Team, you will be responsible for development test strategy, metrology tools, execution of performance testing, data analysis and system integration characterization for mechanical engineering.

  • You will architect and drive execution of our test metrology portfolio and roadmap.

  • You will lead the team in developing world class metrology tools for product characterization of critical performance attributes, mentoring and coaching junior engineering team members to deliver test excellence.

  • You will be accountable as a technical test lead for next generation platforms, organizing and driving characterization plans and strategies that align with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles.

  • You will manage communication with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership, reporting out regularly on progress.

  • You will facilitate test method transfer to downstream product development partners, the specifics depending on the need (e.g. Operations in-line measurement, V&V offline validated method, supplier measurement)

  • You will lead and own technical problem solving for mechanical systems, using a structured problem solving methodology and root cause analysis.

What makes you successful:

  • You have extensive test development (fixture design, programming, test procedure and protocol development, etc.) and characterization experience in the medical device industry, working in a high-volume market.

  • You have full lifecycle medical device product design development experience, from feasibility through V&V, design transfer and commercialization.

  • You bring depth of test development knowledge and system integration experience in a multidisciplinary product ecosystem (examples below)

  • Products requiring characterization and testing of multiphysics devices (E.g. electromechanical devices, wearables, biosensors, etc.).

  • Direct experience with testing and analyzing plastic components, including materials and polymer chemistry and experience in testing and analyzing plastic components.

  • You have a track record of leading teams to deliver technical excellence, meeting timelines for development, translating technology to design at scale, and executing projects as a technical leader with regular visibility to senior management.

  • You thrive in environments where there is ambiguity or uncertainty in product requirements and have a willingness to try and test new ideas, coupled with a track record of success in innovation in a fast-paced R&D environment.

  • You exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

  • You have excellent communication (written and verbal), collaboration, personal interaction and liaison skills.

  • For you, engineering excellence is a top priority, and you achieve that not only through your work but influence that in your team and collaboration with others as well.

What you’ll get:

  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.

  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.

  • Growth opportunities on a global scale.

  • Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.

  • An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

Travel Required:

  • 5-15%

Education and Experience:
