Description

Supply Chain Project Manager

The Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an intelligent, driven Supply Chain Project Manager to create measurable value for a member-owned purchasing organization that serves many of the nation’s leading independent boat builders. The incoming project manager will be trusted to lead sourcing projects from start to finish, from gathering data and issuing Requests for Quotation through analysis, negotiation, and the award of supplier agreements. This role calls for a hands on, servant-minded professional who enjoys negotiating, building strong supplier relationships, and turning data into cost savings that flow directly back to the members. With an engaged Board, a small and collaborative team, and significant collective buying power behind every negotiation, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a visible impact across the marine industry.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary

  • Attractive benefit package including health insurance, 401K w/ match, and PTO

  • Relocation reimbursement for the right candidate

  • Direct, visible impact on member savings, with results that flow straight back to the companies you serve

  • Small, collaborative team with direct access to leadership and an engaged Board of Directors

  • Exposure to industry leaders, member manufacturing facilities, and major marine trade shows

  • Stable, well-established organization with more than 30 years in the marine industry

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather and organize the member and market data needed to issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers for both material and non-material programs.

  • Create and issue RFQs, analyze supplier responses, and recommend the best overall package to the President and the supply chain committee.

  • Develop negotiating strategies in partnership with the President, Senior Project Manager, Purchasing Committee, and Technical Committee.

  • Negotiate pricing and terms, award packages, and draft Supplier of Choice agreements that deliver lasting value to the members.

  • Refine existing Supplier of Choice agreements, making them stronger and more binding for both suppliers and members and supporting higher program compliance.

  • Identify and implement new cost saving opportunities and strategies that drive cost out of the supply chain, including short- and long-term price benchmarking.

  • Identify and qualify new sources of supply to minimize supply chain risk and broaden the range of products and services available to members.

  • Assess and manage potential risks in the supply chain, implementing strategies that ensure continuity of supply for the members.

  • Manage supplier performance issues, including quality, warranty, defects, and recalls, driving timely and effective resolution.

  • Build, manage, and evaluate strong, consistent long-term relationships with suppliers.

  • Work with suppliers to improve the quality, durability, and delivery of parts while containing cost.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements, sharing insights that help members maintain a competitive edge.

  • Participate in supplier presentations, supplier meetings, and supply chain team meetings.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, data-supported presentations at supply chain committee and Board meetings.

  • Represent the organization at the IBEX trade show and other industry events as needed.

  • Focus primarily on material programs while supporting nonmaterial programs as needed.

  • Take on additional projects as assigned by the President.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field.

  • Proven experience in supply chain procurement and management, ideally 5+ years of work experience with increasing responsibility.

  • Marine industry experience is strongly preferred. Accomplished supply chain professionals from other manufacturing environments will be considered based on demonstrated sourcing and negotiation success.

  • Proven success driving cost saving initiatives within the supply chain, supported by strong professional references.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of different projects and tasks at once while maintaining consistent follow through.

  • Excellent negotiation skills, with the judgment to balance cost, quality, and long-term supplier relationships.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make data driven, fact-based decisions and recommendations.

  • Effective problem resolution skills, particularly in managing supplier performance, quality, and warranty issues.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand different communication styles and communicate effectively at all levels of an organization, from the shop floor to the boardroom.

  • Proven ability to work and collaborate successfully within a small team.

  • The skills and personality of a servant leader, committed to creating value for the members.

  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AI tools.

  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification is preferred.

  • Willingness to relocate to the metro Atlanta, GA area and to travel as needed.

  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment assessment, drug screening, and background check.
