Description
Job Summary:
Performs and/or coordinates physicals and drug screens. Responsible for providing and coordinating care for employees who have work-related injuries & illnesses. Provides case management as needed and works to ensure employees return to work quickly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs post-offer physicals and drug screens and maintains records in accordance with HIPPA, Nurse Practice Act, ADAAA and Medical Privacy Act guidelines. Communicates physical results to Occupational Health Manager & Occupational Health Nurse.
- Provides, monitors and/or coordinates medical care for worker’s compensation patients. Assures delivery of quality, compassionate and consistent patient care and works within medical and professional standards.
- Provides case management for work related injuries and illnesses by facilitating, coordinating and communicating with specialists and other physicians, therapists, Corporate Safety Manager, and employees. Works to ensure employees return to work in quickest and safest manner possible. May make recommendations to reduce or eliminate ergonomic and safety risk factors to prevent injuries and illnesses.
- Documents all nursing notes, physical results, and workers compensation information and communications in OHM software using appropriate medical terminology and acceptable abbreviations.
- Provides assistance to the Occupational Health Nurses and Workers’ Compensation Coordinator as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
- 4- year college degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years Nursing experience in occupational health, orthopedics, or an emergency room.
- Ability to type 30 words per minute
- PC operations, i.e., email, Word and Excel.
- Ability to speak fluent Spanish and English preferred.
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
