About Tenax

Tenax delivers mission-critical airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, aerial firefighting, and data collection capabilities supporting U.S. Government customers. Our aviation professionals operate in dynamic environments where safety, aircraft availability, regulatory compliance, responsiveness, and customer focus are essential to mission success.

We are seeking an experienced ASM Maintenance Controller to supervise and support aircraft maintenance for the ASM, ATGS, and NIROPS programs supporting the U.S. Forest Service. This remote position coordinates aircraft status, maintenance progress, return-to-service documentation, vendor support, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) response for Tenax-owned and operated aircraft.

The ideal candidate is an experienced aircraft maintenance professional and King Air subject matter expert who can coordinate effectively with pilots, maintenance providers, vendors, customers, and Tenax leadership while maintaining accurate records and supporting safe, compliant, and timely return-to-service decisions.

What You'll Do

As an ASM Maintenance Controller, you will coordinate maintenance activity, monitor aircraft status, and support operational availability across assigned programs.

  • Work with the Program Manager, Director of Maintenance, ASM Maintenance Manager, U.S. Forest Service representatives, and onsite maintenance personnel to track repairs and minimize impacts to aircraft availability.

  • Coordinate with maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) providers regarding scheduling, troubleshooting, parts procurement, and timely return to service.

  • Review post-maintenance and return-to-service documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

  • Provide guidance regarding proper completion of aircraft maintenance documentation, as needed.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for King Air aircraft, engines, and related components operating under assigned programs.

  • Provide accurate aircraft and maintenance status reports for turnover to Maintenance Management and Program Management.

  • Maintain current and complete maintenance status information in applicable company systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Support the ASM fleet AOG call center on a rotating basis and serve as Tenax’s primary point of contact with pilots, vendors, management, and maintenance providers while on duty.

  • Review and respond to delays and AOG events, identify recurring issues, and recommend corrective or preventive improvements.

  • Maintain assigned standard operating procedures related to maintenance and parts support.

  • Support inventory accountability for Tenax-owned equipment, tooling, and spare parts stored at MRO facilities, including annual inventory activities.

  • Support aircraft tracking, emergency logistics, and other program requirements during assigned work periods.

  • Contribute to fleet safety, quality, reliability, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

  • Support the Tenax Safety Management System (SMS).

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of operational and program requirements.

Basic Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate.

  • At least five years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.

  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations applicable to aircraft operations and maintenance, including 14 CFR Parts 23, 39, 43, 91, 135, and 145.

  • Familiarity with FAA Forms 337 and 8110-3 and Designated Engineering Representative supporting substantiation documentation.

  • Working knowledge of CAMP, Flightdocs, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, OneNote, and other standard Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to review maintenance and return-to-service documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to communicate aircraft status and maintenance progress clearly to operational, technical, customer, and leadership stakeholders.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to work additional or nonstandard hours when required by aircraft operations or AOG events.

  • Ability to travel to CONUS locations as needed, including MRO and field locations.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired Skills

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Avionics maintenance or troubleshooting experience.

  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, aerospace, engineering, or a related field.

  • Current maintenance experience on King Air 250 and/or King Air 350 airframes.

  • Experience supporting Part 135 operations, government aviation programs, aerial firefighting, or special-mission aircraft.

  • Experience coordinating AOG response, vendor maintenance, parts procurement, and MRO activity.

  • Experience with aviation Safety Management Systems and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Leadership and Customer Expectations

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and accountability in support of safe aircraft operations.

  • Maintain timely and effective communications with customers, pilots, maintenance providers, vendors, and internal leadership.

  • Coordinate across functional teams to support aircraft availability and timely return to service.

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

  • Handle time-sensitive maintenance and AOG matters with urgency and appropriate escalation.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The role provides functional oversight, coordination, and technical guidance to maintenance providers and program personnel as required.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a remote position that requires a dedicated home-office workspace and routine use of standard office and communications equipment. Work hours will be aligned with assigned aircraft operating schedules and may include rotating AOG coverage, evenings, weekends, holidays, or additional hours based on operational needs.

  • Approximately 0% - 20% CONUS travel.

  • Occasional travel to field locations, MRO facilities, and the Tenax corporate office.

  • Onsite MRO oversight when required.

  • Work in office, aircraft hangar, flight-line, and maintenance environments.

  • Potential exposure to aircraft operations, machinery, elevated noise levels, weather conditions, and other aviation-maintenance hazards.
