Purpose of the role

To  lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. 

Accountabilities

  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Join us as a Portfolio Tooling, Data insights and Value enablement – VP Prod Ops at Barclays, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our Barclays team. As a VP, you need to drive operational excellence across the Product organization by managing delivery tooling, reporting and analytics, performance metrics, governance processes, and planning activities. To ensures consistency, transparency, and scalability in how work is planned, measured, funded, and executed while continually identifying opportunities to simplify processes and improve organizational effectiveness.


To be successful as a Portfolio Tooling, Data insights and Value enablement – VP Prod Ops, you should have experience with: 

  • 10+ years of experience in Product, data, analytics, business intelligence, or related technology delivery roles, including leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience as Product Manager, Engineer or Analytics Lead, setting technical direction, managing delivery, and translating business priorities into scalable data and reporting solutions.
  • Strong AWS data engineering expertise, including designing and delivering cloud-based data pipelines, data lakes or warehouses, orchestration, data quality, security, and operational monitoring.
  • Demonstrated BI leadership, including ownership of BI strategy, semantic and data modelling, dashboard and reporting standards, self-service analytics, and adoption across business teams.
  • Hands-on understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT patterns, SQL, data governance, metadata, lineage, and controls in an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to define engineering and analytics roadmaps, manage priorities and dependencies, and drive reliable delivery using appropriate Agile and product operating practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with Product, Technology, Finance, Business Management, and Transformation teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to turn complex technical and analytical insights into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
      

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience designing, integrating, or governing RESTful APIs and event-driven interfaces for data and reporting platforms.
  • Practical exposure to AI, machine learning, or generative AI use cases, including AI-assisted analytics, reporting, automation, and responsible AI controls.
  • Relevant AWS, data engineering, analytics, or BI certifications.
  • Experience with business case development, benefits realization, and value tracking.
  • Knowledge of SAFe, Lean portfolio management, OKRs, and enterprise planning and governance practices.
