Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Software Engineer will perform and/or have experience in the following:
- Maintain and update system software and firmware, including integration, version control, and operating system and application upgrades.
- Develop and test automation scripts for patch deployments; build, verify, and distribute software media.
- Perform software testing and validation; create and maintain system manuals, test plans, and version documentation.
- Review and validate software change requests; support troubleshooting and ensure proper configuration tracking with the Configuration Management (CM) staff.
- Identify, implement, and test security patches and configurations; manage vulnerability scans, mitigations, and system updates.
- Assist in system hardening, STIG compliance, and C&A package preparation, including risk assessments and documentation.
REQUIRED SKILLS/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
- Three plus (3+) years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably within a DoD or government environment.
- Experience with Navy Tactical Systems, preferably testing and integrating experience within the CANES environment onboard ships.
- Experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
- Experience with Windows and/or Linux system administration and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python).
- Experience with DISA STIGs, patch management, and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., ACAS).
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II, Security+ CE or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems from an accredited college or university.
Work Location: San Diego, CA. No remote or hybrid work authorized.
This position is required to have and maintain a Secret US DoD security clearance.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Familiarity with software version control and configuration management tools.
- Prior Navy/NAVWAR or METOC systems experience (HWDDC, NIMS, or NITES NEXT).
REMARKS
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of technical and management personnel.
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 annual salary
Compensation for positions at Centurum vary depending on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, location, responsibilities, skill set, and level of experience.
