Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Christmas Kettle Scheduler plays a key role in the success of this annual fundraiser through the recruitment and scheduling of volunteers, as well as supporting the kettle coordinator as needed.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Will assist in the recruitment of Christmas Kettle Workers (volunteers), assisting with orientation.
• Help coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers, and responds to emergency absences, etc.
• Make phone calls and send emails to recruit, retain and schedule volunteers.
• Maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites.
• May deliver and pick-up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
• May host at the kettle, as required, to ensure necessary coverage for breaks, etc.
• Performs other related duties as required.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
• May deal with difficult people and verbal abuse.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
• This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a sitting, and standing position for periods of time.
• Some travel locally will be required using a program vehicle.
• The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.

• Temporary Part Time: 21 hours work per week from October 14 – November 1; Temporary Full Time: 40 hours work per week from November 2 until the contract ends (schedule to be determined after hiring)
• Schedules will fluctuate and flexibility will be required

• October 14, 2026 – December 24, 2026

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

• A minimum 2-year college diploma or equivalent is a positive

 

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

• A minimum of two (2) years' related experience (in fundraising and volunteer management) is a bonus
• Demonstrated ability to connect with and establish relationship with volunteers.

• Hold a valid Class 5 drivers license, and provide a copy of a driver’s abtract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion. A program vehicle may be used for travel when required

• Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
• Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening as required.
• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $22.23 with a maximum of $26.20.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
