Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards of care.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to identify patient care needs and implement appropriate interventions.
- Ability to administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders, agency policies, and nursing standards.
- Ability to interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and clinical findings and communicate significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Proficiency in wound care, infusion therapy, drain management, indwelling catheter care, medication reconciliation, and other skilled nursing interventions.
- Ability to operate and utilize medical equipment commonly used in patient care.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to provide patient and caregiver education regarding disease processes, medications, treatments, and self-care management.
- Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage a patient caseload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, courtesy, and respect.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and timely, accurate clinical documentation, including completion of visit documentation within 24 hours of the visit date.
Education
Associates of Nursing is Required
Bachelor's of Nursing is Preferred
Experience
1 year experience in Med Surg or Critical Care is Required
Certifications and Licensures
Licenced Registered Nurse is Required
Certified Basic Life Support (CPR) is Required
