Purpose of the role

To provide data-led expert oversight and check and challenge on business and compliance matters to evidence that the organisation is operating in a compliance with Barclays legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification and assessment of compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems to.
  • Identification and investigation of potential market abuse, including but not limited to, Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
  • Conduct investigation of compliance risk events or breaches. Oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and ensuring that the bank’s internal policies are aligned with international standards, including jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collaboration with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams and legal, and relevant risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Identification, investigation and oversight of potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.

Join Barclays as a Business Oversight Compliance - USCB Financial Crime VP, providing independent oversight and challenge across the financial crime framework. You will assess financial crime controls, emerging risks and remediation efforts across products, customers, and transactions. The role will advise senior stakeholders on BSA/AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and other financial crime requirements. You will support risk assessments, regulatory and audit engagements, and help translate regulatory expectations into sustainable control improvements. As a senior subject-matter expert, you will influence key stakeholders and strengthen the organization’s financial crime risk culture.

 

To be successful as a Business Oversight Compliance - USCB Financial Crime VP, you should have:

 

  • AML and fraud experience, including transaction monitoring, alert/case investigations, fraud-to-AML escalation, SAR referrals/filings, and QA
  • Experience conducting gap analysis and thematic reviews, identifying control weaknesses, root causes, and sustainable remediation
  • Knowledge of sanctions controls, including OFAC screening, watchlist governance, alert disposition, escalation, and potential matches
  • Ability to challenge risk assessments, evaluate control effectiveness, and identify sustainable remediation
  • Experience supporting regulatory exams, audits, assurance reviews, and executive responses

 

Some other highly valued skills may include:

 

  • Consumer banking experience across credit cards, deposits, lending, brokered deposits, and digital financial services
  • Leadership in product approvals, material change assessments, third-party oversight, risk appetite, issue management, and regulatory change
  • Financial crime investigations and SAR governance, including investigation quality, challenge, disposition, and escalation
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across Legal, Operations, Technology, Product, Audit, Assurance, and Compliance
  • Excel and PowerPoint skills, including large data analysis, dashboards, trend identification, and executive reporting
