Job Details

Join Cencora’s U.S. Public Policy & Advocacy team and help shape the company’s political engagement strategy. This Washington, D.C.-based role oversees the Cencora PAC, grassroots advocacy initiatives, political engagement programs, and compliance activities while building relationships that advance Cencora’s policy priorities. As well as the operational efficiency of office operations. The ideal candidate is a strategic, detail-oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of public policy, political engagement, communications, and operations.

Responsibilities


  • Leads and manages Cencora’s political action committee (Cencora PAC) including fundraising and growth opportunities to grow it as one of our core political and strategic resources that advances the mission and objectives of Cencora in Washington, DC and relevant states
  • Leads Cencora’s grassroots program and get out the vote political programs
  • Creates and executes political program events for internal audiences
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations, budget, compliance, and growth of the Cencora PAC
  • Responsible for office management, office administration, lobbying compliance reports and political giving compliance reports, with support from another team member
  • Prepares PAC presentations and communications
  • Manages and prepares documents and briefings for Cencora PAC Board and PAC Board meetings
  • Executes employee fundraising campaigns
  • Develops and distributes PAC communications, including education and solicitation
  • Establishes and maintains a network of relationships with campaign fundraisers and industry colleagues
  • Establishes a strategic plan for the Cencora PAC and our political engagement opportunities
  • FEC compliance – ensures and manages PAC FEC and state campaign finance compliance; ensures compliance with FEC regulations and state/federal laws
  • Lobbying compliance – knowledge of federal and state lobbying compliance processes; manages lobbying compliance for federal and state entities and ensures accurate and timely lobbying registrations and reports
  • Administers political engagement program governance activities by maintaining operating procedures, required filings, controls, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Evaluates legislative and regulatory developments and develops impact assessments, scenario considerations, and advocacy action recommendations.
  • Develops executive briefings, talking points, and internal updates that align leaders on how the PAC and political programs support policy positions, risks, and engagement priorities.
  • Executes government and stakeholder engagements by planning outreach, preparing meeting materials, and advancing follow-through action
  • Develops grassroots and grasstops communication materials by aligning messages, timing, and channels to advocacy objectives and stakeholder considerations.
  • Maintains PAC database and the PAC recognition awards distribution list
  • Plans and executes annual events for supporters of the Cencora PAC
  • Prepares PAC annual report and newsletters
  • Prepares annual political engagement statement
  • Works with fundraisers to plan and execute PAC events in DC
  • Enhances existing and creates new PAC resources (enhancements to website, communications materials, videos, et al
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and work Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, journalism, economics, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 4+ years of experience in government affairs/public policy/advocacy (state and/or federal), legislative/regulatory analysis, and stakeholder management, or a related field required.
  • Experience managing a federal PAC
  • Working knowledge of FEC rules
  • Thorough understanding of the U.S. government, political and legislative processes
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. federal and state campaign finance laws
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to executives and senior management
  • Experience developing and implementing processes that drive efficiency and collaboration
  • Experience managing a Corporate PAC preferred but not required

  • Strong project, program, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess policy, legislative, and regulatory developments and synthesize key implications
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, collaborate across internal and external stakeholders, and resolve issues efficiently
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and represent the organization professionally and discreetly
  • Experience managing budgets and financial resources
  • Experience leading and managing people, programs, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Knowledge of common business productivity and presentation tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email, and design/layout software
  • Ability to implement and maintain processes that support compliance, governance, and audit-ready documentation and reporting
  • Ability to travel as needed

$76,200 - 119,460

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
