The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key executive leader responsible for ensuring the financial stability, sustainability, and long-term viability of Mississippi County Hospital System. This role requires a highly disciplined, data-driven leader who can rapidly assess financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and execute decisive strategies that drive measurable improvement in key financial and operational metrics.
The CFO leads the development and execution of a proactive financial management system, with a strong focus on real-time monitoring and rapid response to critical indicators such as cash flow, cost per case, labor productivity, revenue cycle performance, and service line contribution margins. In a resource-constrained rural environment, the CFO ensures that financial decisions are timely, actionable, and tightly aligned with operational realities, enabling the organization to quickly adapt and sustain performance.
This role partners closely with the CEO, COO, and CNO to translate financial insights into operational action—supporting efficient care delivery, optimizing ancillary and outpatient services, and strengthening reimbursement performance. The CFO drives accountability across the organization by embedding financial discipline, transparency, and ownership of results at all leadership levels.
The CFO also serves as a steward of community trust, ensuring responsible management of limited resources while advancing access to care and reducing outmigration. Through forward-thinking financial strategies, scenario planning, and continuous performance monitoring, the CFO positions the organization to remain resilient, agile, and financially strong in an evolving rural healthcare landscape.
Requirements
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
• Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field) strongly preferred
Licensure and Certifications:
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Experience:
• Minimum of 7-10 years progressive healthcare leadership experience Director level or above
• Demontrated outcome oriented executive experience in a multi-hospital system, rural hospital settings strongly preferred
• Proven track reacord in quality improvement, patient safety, workforce development, regulatory compliance, and financial management
• Experience with CMS reimbursement models, including cost-based reimbursement and rural payment structures
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Deep understanding of rural healthcare finance, including REH and CAH reimbursement methodologies
• Strong knowledge of revenue cycle, financial reporting, budgeting, and capital planning
• Ability to align financial strategy with operational and clinical priorities
• Expertise in financial forecasting, scenario planning, and risk mitigation
• Strong analytical, communication, and executive leadership skills
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for operational leaders
