ESTIMATOR / ORDER PROCESSOR
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an organised, commercially minded and technically capable Estimator / Order Processor to join our client's growing business.
The role will involve working with steel windows and aluclad windows and doors, taking enquiries from initial quotation through to confirmed order and production. The successful candidate will help ensure projects are accurately priced, technically correct and properly documented before being released to manufacture or installation.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working with construction products, architectural drawings, pricing, customers and production, and who is comfortable managing several projects at different stages.
The successful candidate will become a key link between the customer, sales process, estimating, purchasing and factory, helping ensure projects move smoothly from initial enquiry through to manufacture and installation.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating and Quotations
Prepare accurate quotations for steel windows, aluclad windows and doors and associated products.
Estimate projects using the appropriate software for different products.
Interpret architectural drawings, schedules and customer specifications.
Obtain and compare supplier pricing where required.
Apply the correct labour, material, finishing and delivery costs.
Ensure appropriate margins are maintained across quotations.
Identify potential technical or commercial issues before quotations are issued.
Produce clear and professional quotations for customers.
Liaise with customers, architects, builders and contractors to clarify requirements.
Follow up quotations where appropriate.
Assist with larger or more complex project tenders.
Visit customers to secure sales and undertake initial sales visits with prospective customers, using fleet vehicles for off-site visits.
Order Processing
Once an order is received, you will take responsibility for ensuring the project is correctly prepared for production.
Check orders against the original quotation.
Confirm dimensions, configurations, quantities and specifications.
Check product type and system requirements.
Confirm colours, finishes and hardware.
Confirm glass specifications and requirements.
Check opening directions, handing and other technical details.
Enter orders accurately into the company's order processing systems.
Produce manufacturing information and order packs.
Liaise with suppliers to place material and component orders.
Ensure all required information is available before an order is released to production.
Identify discrepancies or missing information and resolve these before manufacture.
Communicate changes to the factory, installation teams and customers.
Maintain accurate records throughout the order process.
Skills and Experience
Essential
Previous experience in estimating, order processing or a related construction or manufacturing environment.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong numerical and analytical ability.
Confident using Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Clear and professional communication skills.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Desirable
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
Windows and doors.
Steel windows and doors.
Aluclad windows and doors.
Aluminium glazing.
Timber windows and doors.
Architectural glazing.
Construction or manufacturing.
Estimating software.
LogiKal or similar software.
CAD or technical drawings.
