Job Description Summary
The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Process Intern supports the VDC team by helping review and organize Revit models, project files, and department reference materials used for electrical construction projects. This is a learning-focused opportunity for a student interested in electrical construction, BIM/Revit modeling, and improving how project teams work.The intern will receive training on department standards, quality-review processes, and internal tools. Prior experience with every VDC term, workflow, or software platform is not required. Working with the VDC Process Manager and project teams, the intern will help identify items that need attention, organize findings clearly, and support updates to standards and process documents.
Job Description:
What You Will Do
- Help review electrical Revit models using established quality-control checklists and guidance from the VDC Process Manager.
- Record review findings clearly and help communicate items that need correction or follow-up to project leads and the VDC Process Manager.
- Assist with organizing project files, Revit family content, templates, and department reference materials to support consistent modeling practices.
- Help review, format, and update Department Standards, VDC standard operating procedures (SOPs), and project GO-BY materials.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and assigned improvement projects as needed.
What You Will Learn
- How Revit models are used to support electrical construction projects.
- How VDC teams use standards, checklists, and documentation to improve model quality and consistency.
- How to review model and document information consistently and communicate findings professionally.
- How construction technology teams organize workflows, reference materials, and project information.
- Exposure to tools and processes that may include Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural/BIM Technology, Electrical Design, or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Interest in electrical construction, BIM/VDC, Revit modeling, construction technology, or process improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and an interest in organized, consistent work.
- Ability to learn new tools and follow established checklists and instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members while managing assigned tasks independently.
- Ability to commute to the Eagan, Minnesota office for in-person work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework, personal projects, or previous exposure to Autodesk Revit.
- Prior exposure to Navisworks, Revizto, or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
- Interest in electrical systems, construction drawings, or construction coordination.
- Experience organizing information, following documented processes, or creating clear visual or written instructions.
Schedule and Work Location
- This position is part-time during the academic year, with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week during summer break. Academic schedules will be considered when establishing the school-year work schedule.
- This position is based at Hunt Electric’s Eagan MN headquarters, with regular in-person work required. Limited hybrid flexibility may be available after onboarding based on business needs.

- This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and fax machines.
- This position requires the ability to lift files and open file cabinets.
- Employees are frequently required to sit and stand and may occasionally be required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.
- This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range:
$53,248.00 - $59,633.60Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
