Description

About This Opportunity

Property and Facilities is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Project Officer to help coordinate the delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction, facilities and built environment projects across UQ’s campuses. Working within the Program Operations team, you will support a collaborative and purposeful project delivery environment, contributing to the planning, construction, refurbishment and improvement of University facilities that enable world-class teaching, research and campus operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing project lifecycle activities, including planning, monitoring, evaluation, and risk and issue management.

  • Developing and implementing project plans, schedules, documentation, and records to support effective delivery and governance.

  • Providing project management and subject matter advice to support informed decision-making and successful outcomes.

  • Managing stakeholder engagement, project communications, budgets, reporting, and project-related dependencies to ensure alignment with agreed objectives.

About You

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards them) in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related built environment discipline would be highly regarded but are not essential.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering capital works, construction, facilities, infrastructure, refurbishment, or other built environment projects of similar scale and complexity. Experience in non-built environment project settings alone will not be considered equivalent.

  • Current knowledge of best-practice project management methodologies and frameworks.

  • Strong project planning skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, work to deadlines, anticipate future requirements, and resolve issues.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with sound judgement and the ability to provide accurate and consistent advice.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear project documentation, reports, and communication materials.

  • Experience using MS Project, or a proven ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies.
