The Production & Inventory Control (PIC) Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end planning and inventory management processes for a high-mix, low-volume plant (industrial control panel industry). This role oversees direct material planning and procurement, production planning, inventory optimization, and cross-functional coordination to ensure customer commitments are achieved while maximizing operational efficiency, inventory turns, and service levels.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute production plans that optimize capacity utilization while meeting customer delivery commitments. Manage direct material planning and purchasing to ensure material availability without creating excess inventory. Establish inventory strategies that improve inventory turns while maintaining high service levels. Monitor and drive key supply chain KPIs including:
- On-Time to Promise
- On-Time to Commit
- Days on hand
- Past Due Orders
- Excess & Obsolete Inventory
Collaborate with MPS to align production priorities and capacity. Partner with Global Sourcing to resolve supply constraints, supplier shortages, and long lead-time risks. Work closely with Business Unit Leaders and Project Managers to prioritize customer orders and manage project execution. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning processes, inventory management, ERP utilization, and planning accuracy. Ensure compliance with company policies, inventory controls, and purchasing procedures.
The essentials - You will have
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
Experience of 5+ years of progressive experience in Production Planning, Supply Chain, Materials Management, or Operations.
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing planning and inventory control teams.
The preferred - You might have
Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment (Engineer-to-Order, Configure-to-Order, or Make-to-Order manufacturing)
Strong SAP planning experience.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
The ideal candidate is a leader with a background in production planning, inventory management, and direct procurement within a custom manufacturing environment. They excel at balancing customer priorities, manufacturing capacity, and inventory investment while influencing partners across operations, sourcing, project management, and business leadership. They are recognized for driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and using data to make sound decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will report to Plant Manager.
