Citi is looking for an experienced Vice President to join its UK Investment Banking Financial Institutions Group, a team focused on advising banks, wealth managers, and stock exchanges on some of the most consequential transactions in the UK financial services sector. In this role, you will lead deal execution across M&A, IPOs, and private placements, working alongside senior bankers and clients to deliver high-impact outcomes. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of client relationships, transaction delivery, and team development within one of the world's leading financial institutions.
## Responsibilities
- Advise UK financial institutions clients — including banks, wealth managers, and stock exchanges — on M&A, IPO, and private placement transactions, serving as a trusted point of contact throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Lead the execution of transactions from mandate to close, coordinating with clients, senior team members, and external advisors to deliver high-quality outcomes on complex deals.
- Develop and present situation analyses, pitch materials, information memoranda, and investor and management presentations that clearly articulate strategic options and transaction rationale.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the UK Financial Institutions Group franchise through client development and market insight.
- Oversee and guide analysts and associates on live transactions, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development within the team.
- Engage directly in special situation mandates, applying sound judgment to navigate complex and time-sensitive advisory assignments.
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Prior investment banking experience with direct involvement in M&A, IPO, or private placement transactions within the financial services sector.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and take ownership of transaction execution at a senior level.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively to clients and senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accountability, attention to detail, and sound commercial judgment are essential.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
## Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Experience advising UK Financial Institutions Group clients specifically, including banks, wealth managers, or exchanges.
- Familiarity with UK insurance or broader financial services sub-sectors, with the ability to extend coverage beyond core banking clients.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior investment banking professionals, with a track record of supporting their development on live transactions.
## What We Offer
Joining Citi's UK Investment Banking team means working at the centre of some of the most significant financial services transactions in the market. You will have the scope to shape client relationships, influence deal outcomes, and take on growing levels of responsibility within a high-performing and well-established team.
- A hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, offering the balance of collaboration and flexibility.
- Genuine ownership of client relationships and transaction mandates, with the scope to expand your coverage into new sub-sectors over time.
- Access to Citi's global network, providing reach and resources that extend well beyond the UK market.
- Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including access to professional training and exposure to complex, high-profile transactions.
- Competitive financial wellbeing and compensation structures aligned to the demands and impact of a senior investment banking role.
- Wellbeing support and work-life balance initiatives designed to sustain performance at a senior level over the long term.
Apply now to take on a senior advisory role at the heart of UK investment banking and help shape the next chapter of Citi's Financial Institutions Group franchise.
