Office of Knowledge Transfer
The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a bridge between the HKUST research community and industry, creating collaboration and innovation from the University research outcomes and capabilities. OKT manages inventions and Intellectual Properties (IP) of HKUST, formulates strategic commercialization plans, identifies potential collaborators with faculty members, and establishes commercialization projects with industry partners. OKT also incubates and supports HKUST's technology-based start-ups and encourages entrepreneurship development. OKT is inviting competent and passionate professionals to join the Start-up Investment Team:
Reporting to the Head (Start-up Investment), the appointee will provide administrative and operational support to the HKUST Entrepreneurship Fund (E-Fund) and RAISe+ Project Fund (RPF). Duties include:
- Collect, organize, and maintain investment application materials submitted by applicant companies; conduct initial screening of applications against established criteria;
- Support market and technology research to screen potential investment opportunities; support due diligence, financial analysis, and preparation of investment committee materials;
- Liaise with applicant companies throughout the application process, including following up on incomplete or missing documentation, providing guidance on application procedures, and handling general logistics enquiries;
- Coordinate and manage the logistics of investment panel review meetings and Investment Committee (IC) meetings;
- Assist in post-investment management, including collecting and organizing portfolio data, maintaining investment records and filing systems, and preparing regular reporting materials;
- Support the maintenance and updating of investment databases and administrative systems (e.g. investment pipeline tracking and portfolio management records); and
- Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Start-up Investment Team and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related disciplines;
- 2 years of relevant working experience or more; candidates with exposure to venture capital, start-up ecosystems, or financial services are preferred; fresh graduates with strong academic performance and relevant internship experience will also be considered;
- Basic understanding of early-stage investment processes and familiarity with common financial and business metrics;
- Detail-oriented, numerically sensitive, and highly organized, with a strong sense of responsibility and a diligent work ethic;
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; fluency in basic programming or AI tools / vibe coding skills a strong plus.;
- Good command of oral and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external parties.
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
