Primary Function

The Chief Financial Officer serves as a senior member of the executive leadership team and works hand-in-hand with the President on the strategic and operational decisions that shape Dashiell’s future. Together they set the financial direction of the company, evaluate growth opportunities, and ensure the organization has the resources and discipline to execute. The CFO is responsible for the financial strategy, performance, and stewardship that enable safe, profitable growth, and leads all finance, accounting, treasury, and risk management functions as a strategic partner to Operations, Pre-Construction, and Business Development in protecting and expanding margins across the project portfolio. The CFO leads Dashiell’s accounting and finance organization of approximately 25 professionals. The position will be based in our Houston, Texas office located at 12301 Kurland Drive, Suite 400, Houston, TX 77034 and will report to Dashiell’s President.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial counsel to the President and executive leadership team on capital allocation, investment decisions, and enterprise risk.
  • Drive accountability for financial results across the organization, ensuring leaders at every level understand and own their financial performance.
  • Represent Dashiell’s financial position to the parent company and other key stakeholders.

Forecasting, Reporting & Executive Scoreboard

  • Own the forecast cadence and accuracy for revenue, margin, and cash, and continuously improve forecast reliability.
  • Design and maintain the executive reporting scoreboard — a clear, timely, and action-oriented set of KPIs and dashboards for the leadership team.
  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling re-forecasts, ensuring alignment between project-level estimates and consolidated financial plans.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reviews with variance analysis, trend insights, and forward-looking commentary.

Cash, Liquidity & Working Capital Discipline

  • Lead cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization — including inventory and real estate planning — to keep the business funded for growth.
  • Drive billing and collections discipline by setting targets, monitoring aging, and escalating issues to protect cash conversion.
  • Develop and oversee the payables strategy, balancing supplier relationships with cash-flow objectives.

Pricing, Risk & Margin Protection

  • Partner with Operations and Pre-Construction on project pricing, risk quantification, and contract terms to protect and improve margins.
  • Establish and enforce financial guardrails for bid/no-bid decisions, change-order management, and project cost control.
  • Lead commercial risk review on major pursuits and contracts, including joint ventures and subcontractor arrangements.
  • Monitor project financial health, flagging margin erosion early and driving corrective action.
  • Manage credit risk across the customer portfolio by establishing credit policies, monitoring exposure, and approving credit terms on major accounts.

Governance, Policies, Compliance & Controls

  • Set and maintain the governance framework, including policies, delegation of authority, approval matrices, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, parent-company requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Own the relationship with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Oversee insurance programs, risk transfer, and enterprise risk management in coordination with Legal and Operations.

People & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead Dashiell’s accounting and finance organization of approximately 25 professionals.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team; attract and retain top finance and accounting talent and build succession depth across key roles.
  • Set clear goals and accountability across the organization, conduct performance reviews and development planning, and cultivate a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Align finance and accounting structure and resources to support the company’s growth and evolving operational needs.

Finance Systems & Process Modernization

  • Champion ERP, business intelligence, and automation initiatives — including platforms such as IFS, JDE, and OneStream — that increase speed, accuracy, and insight.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, eliminating manual work and reducing cycle times.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions that scale with the business and improve decision-making across the enterprise.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Give the President and executive team the financial insight and discipline to make confident capital allocation and growth decisions.
  • Protect and expand margins across the project portfolio through rigorous pricing, risk review, and cost control in partnership with Operations and Pre-Construction.
  • Strengthen the company’s financial foundation by keeping the business well-funded through disciplined cash, liquidity, and working capital management.
  • Build a finance organization and systems platform that scale with Dashiell’s growth and elevate the speed and quality of enterprise decision-making.
  • Safeguard the company through a strong governance, compliance, and risk framework that earns the trust of the parent company, auditors, and stakeholders.
