UD & Volvo truck service centre is looking for a qualified Diesel Technician to join our busy workshop team in Wiri. This is a great opportunity for a capable, self-motivated technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys the challenge and variety of maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.
You will join a supportive, safety-focused team where your technical skills are valued, your development is encouraged, and no two days are quite the same. If you enjoy fault-finding, solving mechanical problems and helping customers keep their vehicles on the road, we would like to hear from you.
About the role
Working as part of our Wiri service team, you will carry out scheduled servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on a range of trucks and buses. You will use your technical knowledge and practical experience to deliver safe, reliable and efficient outcomes for our customers.
What you will be doing
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults on heavy commercial vehicles
- Completing servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance to a high standard
- Carrying out inspections and identifying additional work required
- Using diagnostic equipment, workshop systems and technical information
- Recording work accurately and keeping customers’ vehicles moving safely and efficiently
- Working collaboratively with technicians, service advisers and workshop leadership
- Following all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
- Contributing to a tidy, productive and professional workshop
What we are looking for
- A recognised heavy automotive or diesel trade qualification
- Hands-on experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy trucks, buses or similar commercial vehicles
- Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence with modern diagnostic systems
- A methodical approach to fault-finding and excellent attention to detail
- A genuine commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
- Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
- The ability to manage your workload and work effectively in a busy workshop
- A current New Zealand driver licence; a heavy vehicle licence would be an advantage
- Current eligibility to work in New Zealand
The hours of work are between 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
