JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Behrend Athletics is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Sports Information.
Job duties to include:
- Assist with the daily operations of the Sports Information Office, including coverage of varsity athletic events.
- Record and maintain athletic statistics using approved statistical software.
- Assist with game-day responsibilities, including live stats, rosters, game notes, and reporting results.
- Write and edit game recaps, feature stories, and other athletic department content.
- Update athletic websites, schedules, and records as needed.
- Assist with social media content creation and promotion of Behrend Athletics events.
- Photograph and/or assist with video coverage of athletic competitions.
- Support postseason reporting, awards submissions, and other department projects.
- Provide excellent customer service to student-athletes, coaches, staff, and visiting teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as athletic schedules require.
- Basic knowledge of NCAA athletics and interest in sports communication preferred.
- Experience with statistics, writing, photography, social media, or website management preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn athletic software systems.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively with coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
Schedule:
Approximately 20 hours per week. Schedule will vary based on athletic events and department needs, including weekday evenings and occasional weekends during athletic seasons. Flexibility is required to accommodate game coverage and special events.
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $10 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week.
