Description
There’s No Us Without U. Lead with Us, for Today and Tomorrow.
There’s no life without water, and at Urban Utilities, we live and breathe that knowledge every single day. It’s why our people are passionate about what they do — and how they do it. And it’s why we need people like YOU. Come shape our future with us and make a real and lasting impact across our people systems and services.
Your Opportunity:
We currently have an exciting 6-month temporary opportunity for a HR Systems Consultant to join our People Services team within the People & External Relations Group. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our HR technology - particularly Workday HCM - is aligned, efficient and empowering for our workforce.
In this role, you'll act as a functional expert for Workday, partnering with colleagues across People & Capability, IT, and the broader business to translate complex requirements into practical, user-friendly solutions. You’ll play a key role in system enhancements, configuration, testing, release management and adoption planning — with a strong focus on experience, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll be responsible for providing ongoing Business
As Usual (BAU) support, including troubleshooting and resolving system issues, managing service requests, and ensuring the smooth operation of core HR systems.
About You:
You are an enthusiastic HRIS professional who is energised by the opportunity to improve processes, automate where it makes sense, and support great people experiences and employee life cycle design through better technology.
You’re naturally curious, technically adept, and comfortable collaborating across teams and levels of the organisation. You bring a balance of holistic thinking and hands-on capability — equally confident driving system enhancements as you are managing day-to-day support. You enjoy troubleshooting issues, resolving queries, and ensuring systems run smoothly, all while keeping the user experience front of mind.
You’ll also ideally bring:
Demonstrated experience working with Workday HCM or a similar platform
A strong understanding of HR functions, processes, and systems optimisation
The ability to analyse problems and translate business needs into technical solutions
Experience providing BAU support, including issue resolution and service request management
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A continuous improvement mindset and comfort in fast-paced environments
Tertiary qualifications in HR, IT, Business or related field (desirable)
At Urban Utilities, we celebrate diversity. We genuinely believe that bringing together different experiences, perspectives, and ways of thinking is crucial to our success. You may not tick every box — and that’s okay. We’re looking for a great human, not just a perfect CV.
