We are looking for a

MATERIAL MASTER DATA JUNIOR SPECIALIST to join Metsä Group´s Master Data Team.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Material Master Data Junior Specialist who will not only maintain the integrity of our material master data but also lead key initiatives, shape data governance standards, and influence cross-functional processes. In this role, your expertise and strategic insights will directly impact how Metsä Group manages, harmonizes, and evolves material data globally.

What Will You Do?

As a Material Master Data Junior Specialist at Metsä Group, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of our material master data across systems. You will be part of material team responsible for maintaining high standards for data quality and contributing to the ongoing development of harmonized, efficient data management practices.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Master Data Management: Create, maintain, and update material master data in line with governance rules and business needs. Collect and validate required information to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance across systems like SAP.

  • Cross-Functional Expertise: Act as a trusted advisor for stakeholders across IT, Supply Chain, Finance, and Production, translating business needs into effective data management solutions.

  • Data Quality and Analysis: Conduct regular quality checks, resolve discrepancies, and manage maintenance requests to ensure accurate, reliable material data. Contribute to data improvement initiatives.

  • Process Improvement and Standardization: Support the standardization of material data practices, propose process enhancements, and help implement best practices for data governance.

  • Mentoring & Knowledge Sharing: Support and coach other Master Data Specialists, ensuring alignment with best practices and governance models.

  • Project Participation – SAP 4/Hana Implementation. Contribute to Metsä Group’s program, supporting unified master data practices and shared maintenance processes across business areas.

Location: This position is based in Gdańsk (Poland). We operate in a hybrid working model, which includes the flexibility of remote work combined with the expectation to be present in the office at least three days per week.


What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Material Master Data Junior Specialist with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a drive for data accuracy and continuous improvement. You should be able to be ready to learn, have detective-like patience, while actively contributing as a collaborative and open-minded team member.

Key qualifications and attributes include:

  • Experience: Any master data experience (preferably in SAP environments), Procurement, manufacturing or industrial environment is a strong advantage. Relevant internships, trainee programs, or experience gained during studies will also be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of Excel. Familiarity with SAP, data governance tools and Power BI is a plus.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and anomalies, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive and solution-oriented approach to data issues and process challenges.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with IT, Sourcing & Logistics, Finance and Production.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferably in Logistics, Sourcing, Production/Operations Management, Engineering, or data-related fields), or alternatively a technical education combined with relevant experience in materials or procurement, is a strongly advantage.
  • Languages: Fluency in English required; knowledge of Finnish, German or Swedish is a significant asset. Other languages are an advantage.
