Description
The Project Manager is a core member of Brenntag North America's Project Management Office, established as part of the effort to internalize and professionalize project delivery within the Americas IT organization. The Project Manager plans, leads, and delivers IT and cross-functional projects on scope, on schedule, and on budget — coordinating internal teams, business stakeholders, and external partners. This role brings consistent project management discipline, governance, and transparency to the IT portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
• Project planning: define project scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, and resource plans in partnership with business and IT stakeholders.
• Execution & delivery: lead projects through the full lifecycle, managing day-to-day execution, dependencies, and milestones to deliver on time and within budget.
• Governance & reporting: apply consistent PMO standards, methodologies, and tooling; maintain project documentation and provide clear, regular status reporting to leadership.
• Risk & issue management: proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks and issues; escalate appropriately and drive resolution.
• Budget & resource management: manage project budgets, track spend, and coordinate internal and external (vendor/contractor) resources.
• Stakeholder management: engage and align business sponsors, IT teams, and third parties; manage expectations and communications throughout delivery.
• Change & deployment: coordinate with the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and delivery teams to ensure controlled, low-disruption implementation.
• Continuous improvement: contribute to maturing PMO practices, templates, and standards as the function is internalized.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of project management experience, including leading IT and/or cross-functional projects end to end.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
• Strong command of project management methodologies (Waterfall and/or Agile) and tools.
• Experience managing project budgets, resources, and vendor relationships.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience delivering ERP (SAP preferred) or enterprise application projects.
• Experience in chemical distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain / distribution.
• Familiarity with ITIL, change management, and IT governance frameworks.
• Experience standing up or maturing a PMO function.
