As an Insuring Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring mortgage loans are accurately reviewed, compliant, and ready for successful insuring. This position is responsible for managing an assigned pipeline of loans, conducting comprehensive post-closing reviews, identifying documentation or underwriting discrepancies, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues. Your ability to analyze loan files, interpret guidelines, identify risk, and proactively resolve exceptions will directly support loan quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned pipeline of mortgage loans through the post-closing review and resolution process.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of closed loan files to verify compliance with underwriting guidelines, mortgage insurance requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Review loan documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, including appraisals, credit reports, income documentation, and other required supporting documentation.
- Analyze loan files to identify discrepancies, deficiencies, or potential compliance issues requiring resolution.
- Investigate and resolve post-closing issues by partnering with agencies, lending institutions, brokers, borrowers, and internal teams.
- Review and interpret underwriting documentation and automated underwriting system results, including DU and LP findings.
- Ensure loan files meet applicable mortgage insurance guidelines and requirements prior to insuring.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Underwriting, Operations, Quality Control, Closing, Post-Closing, and other internal teams to resolve loan exceptions efficiently.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion when determining appropriate documentation, follow-up, and resolution strategies.
- Contribute to quality control initiatives designed to identify recurring issues, reduce errors, and improve post-closing processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation standards, and overall operational efficiency.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and ensure all loan reviews are conducted in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and company requirements.
- Adapt communication style and approach based on the needs of internal and external partners.
- Maintain current knowledge of mortgage insurance requirements, underwriting guidelines, and applicable industry standards.
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support department and organizational goals.
🎯 What You Bring
- High school diploma/GED or a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- At least 1 year of experience working with mortgage insurance requirements and guidelines.
- At least 1 year of experience using Encompass or a similar mortgage loan origination system.
- Experience reading and interpreting DU and LP findings.
- Strong understanding of mortgage loan documentation, underwriting requirements, and post-closing processes.
- Ability to analyze loan files, identify discrepancies, and determine appropriate resolution steps.
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to manage an assigned pipeline and prioritize multiple loans, issues, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues and work collaboratively toward resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external partners.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when reviewing loan documentation and resolving exceptions.

Your day may include:
- Managing and prioritizing an assigned pipeline of loans requiring post-closing or insuring review.
- Reviewing closed loan files to confirm documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable requirements.
- Analyzing credit, income, appraisal, underwriting, and other loan documentation to identify discrepancies or deficiencies.
- Reviewing DU and LP findings and confirming that applicable requirements have been satisfied.
- Identifying mortgage insurance or underwriting issues that could impact a loan's ability to be insured.
- Communicating with internal teams, lenders, brokers, agencies, or borrowers to obtain clarification or missing documentation.
- Researching guidelines and determining appropriate solutions for loan-level exceptions.
- Tracking outstanding issues through resolution while maintaining accurate documentation and follow-up.
- Partnering with other departments to identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
- Supporting quality control initiatives designed to improve loan accuracy and reduce post-closing defects.
- Balancing independent decision-making with appropriate escalation when additional guidance is needed.
- Ensuring every loan review is completed with accuracy, consistency, and a strong commitment to compliance.
