Associate - Finance Automation and Systems Architect

As Shamal Holding continues to grow, we’re in search of an Associate – Finance Automation and Systems Architect. In this role you will drive the automation of financial processes at Shamal Group by identifying, designing and building automation, systems architecture and AI solutions across finance and reporting, with ERP as the system of record, engineering manual effort and operational overhead out of the reporting cycle. As a hands-on contributor, to translate reporting requirements into integrated, standardised, platform-enabled solutions and support the responsible adoption of AI to enhance efficiency, accuracy and insight, helping build the finance team of the future and autonomous, self-running finance processes. 

Responsibilities

Automation, AI and Systems Responsibilities:

 

• Identify, design and build automation and AI opportunities within existing finance and reporting systems, acting as a hands-on contributor to reduce manual effort, risk and operational overhead.
• Support the translation of financial reporting requirements into platform-enabled solutions and contribute to coherence, integration and standardisation across finance systems, with ERP as the system of record.
• Ensure automated processes and system enhancements support robust financial controls, statutory and management reporting, audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Support the responsible adoption of AI and intelligent automation within financial reporting, enhancing insight, efficiency and decision-making.
• Assist with enhancements, upgrades and digital initiatives affecting finance systems, supporting testing, controlled change and business readiness.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology and AI trends relevant to finance and contribute to a culture of innovation and value add within the finance team.
• Support other staff in the finance team and perform any other tasks as requested by the line manager and business needs.

Financial Reporting Responsibilities:

• Support consolidation and financial statement preparation at each parent entity level, automating recurring entries and statement production to reduce manual intervention.
• Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of transactions and disclosures as per IFRSs, especially revenue recognition, impairments, leases and other financial instruments, embedding system rules and automated checks so treatment is applied consistently at source.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations on a monthly basis for all group companies, automating data extraction, matching and exception reporting so effort is focused on resolving breaks.
• Review procedures, accounting documentation and reports for quality and efficiency improvements, identifying manual steps that can be automated and redesigning them as system-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• Professional qualified or part-qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CPA).
• Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent degree in IT Systems Architecture/Finance.
• Hands-on experience working with ERP systems and their technical and functional capabilities
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in automation, AI and digital transformation within a finance environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance IT Systems – (Big4 experience will be an add-on).
