NGIS Accounting Technician

Amentum is seeking a NGIS Accounting Technician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The NGIS Accounting Technician is responsible for performing accounting tasks to ensure the financial integrity of Navy Gateway Inns and Suites operations. This role combines accounting, reporting, and financial analysis expertise with a focus on hospitality services.
Job Responsibilities
· Performing routine accounting duties, including processing financial transactions, account reconciliations, and tracking expenditures.
· Managing accounting records and documentation for operational and financial activities in compliance with Navy and company protocols.
· Verifying and posting details of business transactions, such as revenues, expenses, refunds, or other accounts-related activities.
· Collaborating with hospitality staff and management to ensure accurate financial reporting for hotel operations.
· Identifying discrepancies and coordinating with management to resolve accounting-related issues.
· Assisting in financial audits by providing accurate and up-to-date financial data and supporting documentation.
· Using financial management software and systems to record and track operational data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established
financial policies. Producing reports and summaries of financial activities for management review, including profit and loss statements for NGIS operations.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
· A minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience, preferably in hotel management/services or a hospitality-related field.
· At least one (1) year of formal education at the college or university level in accounting, fi nance, business administration, or a related field.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including familiarity with auditing processes, reconciliations, and financial tracking.
· Proficiency in financial management software and systems, with the ability to generate financial reports.
· Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills to evaluate
financial data and resolve discrepancies effectively.
· Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-paced environment.
· Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
· Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
· Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign
Clearance Guide.
· Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain
compliance for the duration of deployment.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
· Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United
States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
· Familiarity with Navy or Department of Defense lodging or hospitality operations.
· Experience working in hotel financial operations, including billing, auditing, and budget tracking.
· Valid country driver’s license.
· Advanced certifications in accounting or financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks or other hospitality accounting systems).

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office,
industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
