Requirements
BASIC FUNCTION:
Sets-up and operates polishing lathes, hand grinder, square wheel, washer and shaker to clean, grind, polish, wash, and buff beaters, machine pump cylinders, barrels, nose cones, scraper blades, feeder tubes, rear bars, center rings, covers, and baffles. Polishes and grain finishes hoods and doors. Grinds, polishes, blends, and deburrs various surfaces on grills, TEO's, pizza ovens, and other cooking equipment according to specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Reads production orders and retrieves parts, machines, and tooling.
- Sets-up and adjusts various tools and polishing equipment.
- Holds and moves parts against buffing or polishing wheel to smooth surfaces, produce specified finish, or cut down plating defects.
- Grinds and smooths surfaces of items using powered portable wheel or belt grinder, polishing lathes, or drills.
- Cleans, grinds, polishes, washes, and buffs scraper blades, feeder tubes both inside and out, blades, barrels, rebars, tubes and baffles, large and small front hoods and doors, covers, beaters, and nosecones.
- Spot faces and puts radius on barrels.
- Smooths out blemishes and removes surface defects, excess metal and burrs.
- Visually inspects parts for cracks, scratches and pinholes.
- Cleans welds and reworks parts that have been damaged or are deficient.
- Makes buffing and sanding pads.
- Selects and applies appropriate grade of abrasive, compound or grease to wheel for grinding.
- Hand rubs parts.
- Peels paper from parts, assembles sub-assemblies, and performs final assembly operations.
- Maintains contours, relative shape, color and shine on part.
- Moves parts to next area of operation.
- Keeps production records.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Sandblasts and washes parts.
- Loads parts into shakers and operates.
- Removes rocks from parts and separates parts into appropriate production orders.
- Performs preventive maintenance on machinery.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
