Treeline’s Sawmill team produces a variety of standard lumber products and mill by-products. Additionally, the sawmill team is capable of producing custom lumber orders sawn to client specifications. 

Position Summary

Treeline’s Lumber Sales and Customer Service Person supports the Sawmill by maximizing sales of the lumber and mill by-products produced.   The Lumber Sales and Customer Service Person promotes, sells, and provides education related to all products of Treeline’s Sawmill to both retail and wholesale customers. They provide excellent, ongoing customer service to all customers as needed and appropriate.  The Lumber Sales and Customer Service Person will develop, grow, and maintain positive business partnerships and customer relationships throughout Maine by using proven sales techniques and excellent communication skills.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Maintain personal safety and watches out for the safety of others.
  • Accept and appreciates others watching out for their safety.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Identify new and established customers throughout the state of Maine and beyond.
  • Learn and understand the products and services sold such lumber, mats, mill      by-products, etc.
  • Promote and sell all sawmill products and by-products using proven sales      techniques and excellent communication skills to maintain and establish positive business and customer relationships.
  • Provide high quality and timely sales to ensure a high level of customer service      and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the sawmill manager with orders, timelines, products, etc. to      maximize selling every product the sawmill produces.
  • Communicate with team members and customers in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Assist customers with helping them load purchased materials as needed.
  • Maintain a consistent positive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Understand and adhere to Treeline’s employment handbook.
  • Manage time to conserve cost and maximize return.
  • Research and find ways to increase value to the sawmills products and then sell      them to the various markets.
  • Maintain  a clean, neat, and organized work area.
  • Understand and support Service Center operations, policies, and procedures.


Requirements

Education, Work Experience, and Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Five years of general work experience
  • 2 years of experience in lumber or building materials sales (or equivalent)
  • Valid Driver’s license

Preferred

  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Sales, sawmill, or lumber yard background
  • 5 years of experience in lumber or building materials sales (or equivalent)

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Sitting – up to 50%
  • Standing – up to 50%

  • Lifting – up to 50 lbs. with good body mechanics (lifting devices are used for heavier loads)
  • Twisting- 1-120 twists/day
  • Bending – 1-120 bends/day
  • Reach at or above shoulder height frequently
  • Frequent use of both hands
  • Very accurate near vision; accurate far vision
  • Minimal color discrimination and depth perception
  • The ability to work in all temperatures
  • Exposure to periodic moderate to fairly loud noise, below 85db
