Overview

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Air Freight to lead our Asia Pacific air freight business. This role is responsible for driving regional strategy, growing revenue and profitability, strengthening carrier and customer partnerships, and ensuring operational excellence across multiple markets.

 

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial leadership with deep air freight operations expertise and the ability to lead a regional team in a fast-paced, multinational environment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

•      Define and execute the Asia Pacific air freight strategy in alignment with global and regional business objectives.
•      Lead end-to-end air freight operations across the region, ensuring standardization, service quality, and efficient execution.
•      Own regional P&L performance, including revenue growth, margin improvement, cost control, and profitability.
•      Develop and monitor KPIs, performance dashboards, and business reviews to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
•      Lead carrier sourcing, contract negotiation, capacity planning, and network optimization to improve cost and service levels.
•      Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, airlines, partners, and internal stakeholders.
•      Support RFQs, pricing strategy, customer retention, and new business development initiatives.
•      Ensure compliance with customs requirements, trade regulations, safety standards, and local operating rules across all markets.
•      Lead digital transformation, process improvement, and innovation initiatives to enhance visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
•      Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing regional team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
•      Work closely with sales, operations, procurement, finance, and country teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.

Qualifications

Requirements

Education and Experience

•      Typically 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding, air freight, logistics, or supply chain management.
•      Significant leadership experience managing regional or multi-country air freight operations.
•      Proven track record in P&L ownership, business growth, and operational performance improvement.

Skills and Competencies

•      Strong air freight market knowledge across Asia Pacific.
•      Excellent commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
•      Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to turn insights into action.
•      Proven people leadership and team development capability.
•      Deep understanding of trade compliance, customs, and regulatory requirements.
•      Strong communication skills in English, Catonese and additional Asian language capability is a plus.
•      Ability to work under pressure, manage complexity, and lead independently.

Preferred Qualifications

•      Experience in both import and export air freight.
•      Experience working with multinational teams.
•      Exposure to digital freight solutions, automation, or data analytics initiatives.
•      MBA or advanced business qualification is an advantage.
