We are seeking a Water and Wastewater Business Development Manager to join our Water Team serving Eastern PA, NY and NJ. The ideal candidate will thrive as a vital part of a talented, resourceful and collaborative water team that interfaces regularly with our East Division water teams across our Mid-Atlantic and Northeast footprints. They will have a commitment to client service and development of opportunities, have a strong technical and commercial acumen, enjoy and thrive in professional organizations to network and promote the company brand and enjoy delivering solutions and projects to public and private water infrastructure clients that improve public health, safety, and the environment. This is an outstanding growth opportunity for a professional seeking an influential role to help grow our strong base of public and private water resources clients and diversify the business.
It is preferable that this position be based in our Hamilton, NJ or New Providence, NJ, offices. However, location is flexible and can be in a hybrid mode. Client and project travel in the region will be required. The successful candidate will report to the Area Water Operations Manager.
The primary function of the role will be to identify, position, propose, and win targeted business pursuits with existing and new clients, ultimately catalyzing continued diversification and growth of the business. The candidate will nurture and grow client relationships in a team environment and assist in the successful delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the water/wastewater market. The candidate upon hire will take on existing clients to support active and upcoming pursuits and projects. Over time, they will be required to develop new relationships and opportunities that can translate rapidly to successful business development and long-term repeat business.
The candidate must have experience as an account representative/client account manager and experience as a technical and project manager for water/wastewater/municipal engineering infrastructure in the public and private infrastructure owner space. Candidates must possess excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication and technical writing skills. Candidates must value quality and detail in delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Support proposal efforts at all levels, develop client/project capture plans. Participate in project scoping activities and proposal presentations.
- Build strong relationships and interact regularly with key clients, teaming partners and stakeholders linked to the market.
- Continuously interact with clients assuring satisfaction with Company services and work closely with project delivery personnel to ensure any service issues are identified and addressed in a proactive manner.
- Engage in industry groups and actively participate in committees and/or Board governance.
- Reinforce collaboration and team building, ensure client focus, demonstrate commitment to excellence and innovation, and motivate others to ensure positive morale and engagement
- Help maintain their client relationship management (CRM) activities and data.
- Provide input on business development priorities, budget and expenditures.
- Support the identification and mitigation of risks and commercial terms during the project lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of client management experience, 10-15 years of total professional and project management experience in consulting engineering firm or related service.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Professional registration (PE) preferred.
- Proven business development and project management experience in water/wastewater/municipal infrastructure with design consulting firms.
- Business acumen related to project management, portfolio financials and risk management.
- Use of Deltek or similar CRM software

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with New Jersey’s Pay Equity Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $116,000 - $197,000.
