We are currently seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Merge Engineer to support an existing program through May 2027.
Position Summary
This is a full-time remote position focused on supporting the transfer of personnel data within the Patriot Excalibur (PEX) system. The SME Merge Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and executing personnel data transfers between databases, resolving issues that impact migrations, and configuring relevant modules within PEX.
This role works closely with Business Analysts, Help Desk personnel, developers, government stakeholders, and customers to ensure the accurate and timely transfer of personnel records with minimal operational disruption.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Air Force aviation resource management processes, PEX functionality, and personnel data management.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritize squadron data migrations with units, MAJCOMs, stakeholders, and internal team members.
- Manage the export and import of personnel data packages within PEX.
- Configure and validate personnel records to ensure successful transfers between databases.
- Create and maintain user accounts.
- Troubleshoot issues related to personnel records, training, and evaluation functions.
- Serve as a liaison between customers, Help Desk personnel, developers, and government representatives.
- Translate customer-reported issues into actionable work items and development requirements.
- Create and track stories, defects, and enhancement requests within GitLab.
- Participate in software testing, validation, and quality assurance efforts.
- Provide subject matter expertise to development teams and stakeholders.
- Assist with documentation, user guidance, and Help file updates.
- Present project updates, migration plans, and progress reports to government representatives and internal teams.
- Demonstrate Patriot Excalibur (PEX) capabilities and functionality to government customers.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Strong understanding of routine personnel management actions within Patriot Excalibur (PEX).
- Knowledge of squadron structures and how they function within the overall PEX environment.
- Understanding of squadron-specific attributes, including:
- Mission Design Series (MDS)
- Crew Positions
- Personnel assignments and organizational structures
- Knowledge of how training records and evaluations are associated with personnel during export and import activities.
- Ability to identify conflicts between source and destination databases and resolve data migration issues.
- Understanding of personnel data integrity, system configuration, and migration best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected challenges.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Patriot Excalibur (PEX).
- Familiarity with Air Force personnel and aviation resource management processes.
- Knowledge of:
- AFMAN 11-421, Aviation Resource Management
- DAFMAN 11-401, Aviation Management
- Experience supporting government or military organizations.
- Experience working with Agile development teams and issue tracking tools such as GitLab.
