ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Guide and help define the multi-year technology and architecture roadmap for the Digital Commerce platform, aligning engineering investments with business strategy, scalability, and long-term growth.
• Lead the modernization of the Digital Commerce platform by driving the adoption of headless commerce, cloud-native architectures, AI-enabled capabilities, and other emerging technologies.
• Architect, design, and provide technical leadership in the development of scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing eCommerce systems, services, APIs, and integrations using modern engineering practices.
• Establish the technical direction and engineering standards for the eCommerce Technology organization, including AI-assisted software development, architecture governance, code quality, automated testing, security, performance, observability, and operational excellence.
• Lead the technical design and execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives, partnering with Product, Delivery teams to deliver solutions that improve customer experience, drive conversion, and support business growth.
• Evaluate, recommend, and integrate third-party platforms, technologies, and services that align with enterprise architecture, security standards, and the company's digital commerce strategy.
• Partner with the Delivery organization to execute projects on schedule and within budget while proactively managing technical risk, architectural integrity, and technical debt.

Engineering Excellence & Collaboration:

 

• Champion operational excellence by improving system reliability, resiliency, observability, performance, and availability through proactive monitoring, incident prevention, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Adhere to corporate architecture and security standards while incorporating engineering best practices.

• Mentor and coach engineers and managers by providing technical guidance, conducting design and code reviews, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Knowledge

• Deep expertise in modern programming languages and frameworks, including Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, or Go.

• Strong knowledge of enterprise eCommerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, BigCommerce, or Commerce Tools, including headless and composable commerce architectures.

• Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, distributed systems, containers, and API design (REST/GraphQL) on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with modern software delivery practices, including AI-assisted development, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps.

• Strong understanding of security, scalability, performance, resiliency, and observability for high-volume digital commerce platforms.

• Knowledge of enterprise integrations and commerce ecosystems, including ERP, OMS, Payment Service Providers and fulfillment systems.

• Familiarity with AI technologies and automation that enhance developer productivity and customer experiences.

• Excellent communication and people skills, including the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

• Highly meticulous and very detail oriented.

Abilities

• Able to take ideas from inception to architecture to production.

• Able to work across engineering teams to ensure technical designs are carried through correctly.

• Self-starter who takes the initiative to start and complete assignments without direct supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including experience building eCommerce or high-traffic consumer applications.
